The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Posted on 12/01/2006 12:55:15 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Cipher - scibble - carry the ought - well, not a lot of ~ extra ~ room there. Or you can just put it in wood chip the walkway between them. hmm opportunity abounds, kinda sorta. :-)

I think it's a new form of spam.

No, it was series link from their blog. Someone had posted an article about Nancy Pelosi saying she was the most powerful woman in America. They were pointing out that the only original source was The Washington Times and linked to my post about it.

I could tell it wasn't spam. It was a trackback from their site.

Hmmm....yeah, I could do a walkway. But I think the lawnmower will fit.

Dunno where else to go, though.

I know you hate going there. But Walmart, and sometimes Sam's Club have shops in the front. You can usually get your glasses for a bit cheaper.

And you don't have to go all the way in the store...

They're pretty similar to Pearle Vision, but they may have a better selection of frames.

We don't have a chain saw Sam... haven't trusted ourselves with one, but we sure could use one!

Walmart?

*shudder*

I'll keep that in mind, though.

I did check Penneys, but they only had an abysmal selection of truly hideous frames.

My main trouble is that I'm spoiled...my current frame is one of those flexible titanium alloy things - I got a really good deal on 'em at the time. Vey light weight, vey hard to break. Most of what I looked at today felt really clunky yet fragile compared to these. Or *extremely* pricey.

But I also can't go without glasses for a week while lenses get fitted, which is what Pearle would need.

Not sure what we're in now!

Believe it or not the term is Postmodern.

Maybe not so much with comic books. But what do ~I~ know?

Graybeard, thank you so much for going on our behalf. We are so grateful. My heart breaks for Mrs. N and their families. This is a sad story that has been played out many times before, but this one was one of ours, and we feel it in a way they all deserve to be felt. Thank you for representing us there, and letting her know we care.

Yeah, we spent the extra bucks to get the flexible unbreakable stuff for Luke.

These have saved me money in the long run...used to need new frames almost once a year for one reason or another. Even if nothing got stepped on, the screw holes would get stripped so the lenses kept falling out or some such thing. I'm a fan of 'em, for sure!

Ugh... I hafta find a place and get an appointment.

Don't ever buy frameless glasses, you will get hooked and have to buy the same every time at a higher than framed glasses prices. I do love 'em though.

That's a fascinating essay, or at least it was until after a while it started reminding me that about 38 years ago, when minoring in philosophy, I figured out that most philosophy, and I guess intellectualism was crap! A lot of it was crap, anyway.

Anyhow, on the art threads here on FR, which can be fascinating, postmodernism gets no respect at all, not even from the few freepers who admit to liking abstract art.

Maybe we're already past postmodernism, too. Wonder where we are if that's the case?

Her face brightened when I said the words "Hobbit Hole" and so did the face of her mother standing next to her

I'm from the Hobbit Hole and I'm here to help(to paraphrase and greatly misquote RR).

Well done sir.

Most everyone in FL has a chainsaw these days, after all the hurricanes. Nobody's probably qualified to use 'em, I'm sure the keep the emergency room staffs busy when there are storms, cutting their faces to pieces when the things kick back, which they do very easily.

I've been kind of amazed at you guys' weather this winter.
