Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
I heard fireworks for about 10 to 15 minutes...none sounded very close.
Though I must say today was a fabulous shopping day: Our little nearby outlet mall was.... ~deserted~.
Happens all the time, in budding relationships, and even in good marriages!
In Worcester, you have to park on outlying lots, then take a shuttle bus wherever you want to go. Lots of clubs, museums, etc. take part, and I think it's $25 for a button that gets you into everything.
That what it looked like at your place? Ends up, we watched another movie, SirKit went on to bed and I stayed up with Clare and David chatting and watching a show about Mt. Everest. We all agreed that would could not figure out why folks want to put themselves through that. David reckoned it's a pretty expensive way to kill yourself.
I MAY just have to go over to Pier 1 imports today. See if they have any Christmas ornaments left, and on sale. I never got special ornaments for the kids this Christmas, so that would be a good place to get them! Either there, or TJ Maxx. ;o)
Today's Gospel was the finding of the child Jesus in the temple.
Each year his parents went to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover,
and when he was twelve years old, they went up according to festival custom.After they had completed its days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, but his parents did not know it.
Thinking that he was in the caravan, they journeyed for a day and looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances,
but not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for him.
After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions,
and all who heard him were astounded at his understanding and his answers.
When his parents saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, "Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety."
And he said to them, "Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?"
I had this sudden image of how this might play out if FR had existed back then and this got written up as an article.
"They didn't look for him for a whole day??? What kind of parents are they? What, do they assume other family members are going to take care of him for them while they're off partying?"
"Kids these days... In my day, we'd *never* have gone off without letting parents know."
"Hey, I know these people! They're good people. The father's the best carpenters in town and the mother is one of the sweetest people you could hope to meet. You guys don't know what you're talking about."
"A carpenter, huh? Bet they aren't wealthy. Why is he wasting money on a trip like that? Only thinking of the moment. Don't come to me for a handout..."
Probably could manage an illegal immigration angle on it, too. And something along the lines of "What can you expect of Nazareans, anyway?"
ROTFL!! Oh, that's terrific!
I tell people wife and I have been married for 20 years. Most of 'em good...
No, it wasn't quite that bad. We did stop "24" long enough to see the ball drop in Times Square. Then we went back to Jack.
We're not quite halfway through Season 2. Around 3 a.m. or so Jr. and I both fell asleep. Hated that 'cause it was the episode were Kim was trapped by the cougar.
Hate to miss a chance to cheer for the cougar.
*snort*
That was a great episode...at least until the point where she got away...
OK, so I'm evil.
'zackly
On one of the recent threads there was someone who was whining and saying the 24 folks really need to dump Chloe and bring back Kim as a major character.
I think he was roundly trounced.
I surely hope so. I'm going to build a little shrine to Chloe at work. (Does anyone know if there are Chloe action figures?) The filter on my inner Chloe has been malfunctioning at work lately.
So far looks like there's just "Jack" action figures.
And he has the "Kim" prototype.
And he thinks she's cute.
