The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

It's a WWII documentary that originally aired in 1952-53.

We're sinking a lot of Japanese ships right now. Go team!

This justin: Saddam Hussein is STILL dead. ;-)

In other news, taking it slow, but we're heading home today.

In other, other news, after a week and a half of silly squabbles (of which I did not participate online), I've made my stand on the Virginia blogosphere. And, I think I was pretty successful at offending both sides.

So, there's that.

I'll check in this evenin' sometime.

Hey Rosie, where'd you get off to so early on a Saturday?

We were at the vets getting Homer tutored... or... rather, treated for his itchy scratchy. We finally admitted we were not winning and took him in. $150 later and a bag full of pharmaceuticals, and he's now hopefully on the road to recovery... I hope so, he's been making us nuts with the scratching and licking! I imagine it's not fun from his perspective either.

Went to the coffee house and then did my quarterly run to Value Village for clothing. I was good and tried stuff on for about the first fifteen minutes; then I said fergit it and just grabbed a bunch of stuff. Hopefully it all works. Pants and sweaters, mostly, so I can retire the more raggedy stuff from work day use.

Then got groceries and came home. It's VEY foggy out there.

What sort of stuff does Homer have to take? Did they have any idea what it's likely to be?

He's ~back~ on the Chicken and Rice food he'd always done well on before. We had changed brands earlier in the fall, and while I think that might have been it, the vet isn't sure. Vet thinks it's a seasonal thing maybe, because he did have a breakout last year in Dec. too. Maybe something about being in the house more for winter. I dunno.

Hitting him with antihistamines and an antibiotic to get him healed and we'll see. Got a good topical spray, actually has a little novacaine in it to deaden the itchy spots... Hope that works better, and he got a bath with a good medicated shampoo.

I never try stuff at VV. I figure, even if half of it doesn't work, it's still a good deal :~) They will take exchanges back though, if you keep the receipt.

At least I know a coupla brands of pants that fit.

I can deal with trying on tops, some of the time. I detest trying on pants.

Still have to figure out an outfit for the wedding, though. *sigh* I probably should actually go to the real mall for that. Not many nice dresses at Value Village, unfortunately.

At least this time I don't have to wear a bridesmaid's dress.

I'll be able to breathe. Breathing is *nice*.
