The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Posted on 12/01/2006 12:55:15 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Too bad you had to share the range with an idjit. Sounds like he was definitely overgunned with that Desert Eagle.

I have large hands, and could not even hold a Desert Eagle securely, so it has never entered my mind to try and fire one.

They had a S&W "Kodiak bear kit", consisting of a S&W .50 Mag five-shot hugh stainless steel revolver with orange grips, in an orange Pelican case, along with other "bear" necessities. You'd almost need bear-sized paws to handle the revolver.

Well, FWIW, I bet my college friends say the same thing about me. :~\

Considerin' when you went to college, they're prolly just concerned that your hairdo got smaller...

I've seen that S&W bear kit but not up close, the marketing folks went all out on that one, very impressive package.

I like the single stack mag semi autos, like the Sig 220 or S&W 39-2 the best but can shoot larger ones, such as the Glock 21, without any problems.

Sounds like a good day with firebuilding, orientering, good skills to have. Land nav with compass and map is always a good time.

Good luck with the 'yotes. - .17 HMR or ?

I wonder if you could use bio-hazard or radiation warning stickers.

I'd probably get in trouble.

Even so...I've always kinda wanted some of those for instrument cases...especially if I ever get a case fer the banjo...

There's also a sticker at work that says "Not An Exit" that I'm vey tempted to steal and put on the top of my guitar case.

Umkay...ad from Craigslist.

Compaq Presario XL1300 laptop. Used for law school. Perfect for student. 4.21 GB HD, 56MB RAM (more than enough). Celeron processor, Microsoft ME with Works package. Moview Maker, Outlook Express, DVD/CD player, 3 1/4 external floppy, built in mouse pad plus external mouse, ethernet and dialup ports, wireless card, 2 USB ports, 1 printer port, security cable and carrying case for the goodies. Done w/school. must sell. I got for $1400 (have receipts). 1st $700 takes (or try to sweet talk me). cash talks, you give me $$, I hand you computer.

Someone needs to explain computer economics to this dude, I think. Half off a PC six or seven years old isn't a bargain.

$700 is more than enough to get the latest and greatest laptop brand new from D*ll's website...

Or at least *a* new laptop - and not a bad one, either.

I'd try to tell him gently, but I think I'd get flamed for it.

Dropping a zero would be closer, though he *might* be able to get $150 or so for it, I guess. Laptops with a useable screen are still worth more than the average PC. But even so...

Eek...is it raining hard enough?

The Nisqually already looked a little high this afternoon - at least, I think it's the Nisqually that kinda runs by the road as you head toward Yelm...we went out to a client's office this afternoon.

Especially ex-Presidents that have been in poor health for some time.
