The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Posted on 12/01/2006 12:55:15 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Yes! It turned out pretty good even though I didn't put the tequila in. :)

It was just tangerine, pears, bananas, and pineapple with a dressing of apple cider, lemon juice, and pineapple juice.

Gosh knows that's important. ;-)

Well, I'm back from Puyallup. Probably going to hit the hay in about fifteen minutes, early though it be. Been a long day.

My kitties kinda sorta got a Christmas present. Hair and ecurbh gave me a really nifty post for hanging a bird feeder or plant or what-have-you. In my case, I want to use it for a bird feeder, probably outside my big back window. I may have to set up something for the kitties to sit on so they can pretend to be great hunters. ;-)

Spiderboy received his first 22 today, a Remington 597.

An impressive .22 for a first rifle. Any plans for optics?

Remington is apparently intending to use the 597 to give the Ruger 10-22 a run for its money. So far, there's an aftermarket target hammer out for it, which improves the trigger pull. Also a redesigned extractor system, to prevent stovepipes.

My dad pretty much raised me up on Remingtons, which is what he used exclusively. Even my first centerfire rifle was a Remington 03A3.

A Stormhands Christmas...the condensed version...

Mornin' and Merry Christmas everyone. I just woke up from a long winter's nap on the couch. Wife asked around 10-ish..."Why don't you go to bed?" I says "Because I'm comfortable." And apparently I was.

Nice time here. Some highlights:

Cbristmas service at church was nice. It's a tradition that the pastors tell the Christmas story and bring kids up to act it out. It's not rehearsed which makes it kinda fun. Luke was a shepherd this year.

Between Friday and when I fell asleep last night, I got about 5 hours sleep. That's pretty typical for our holidays, but as usual it had me grumping yesterday that "we're not doing it like this again..."

Only ended up with 18. Wife's boss (also our nayber) and family couldn't come. Mainly because her mom is rapidly going down hill. Quicker than Nana even. But her's is more dementia related. Signed two boxes of checks, but couldn't remember why...

Nana did okay. Seemed more subdued. Could be a number of things but family all agrees she's gone downhill from last year.

In-law children were only mildly destructive. Much to Luke's protests we put away a lot of his stuff so they wouldn't get into it (and scatter parts or break stuff).

Younger sister-in-law apparently likes egg nog so much she poured a big wine glass full of it...and literally took half the pitcher before anyone else had some. Ended up being okay, but still...

Luke and Jr. gots way too much stuff.

Maybe more later. I'm gonna go take another nap...

mmmmmmmm...nap...

Well, a day late but Merry Christmas PE; That's a Christmas that Spiderboy will always remember. Nice Rifle he has there, you'll have many hours of fun to come to that one. I'd hazard a guess you become familiar with www.rimfirecentral.com as well. Good forum for .22s of all makes and models.
