The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Hodie, Christus Natus Est!

Our 4:30 Mass yesterday began with the Cantor walking down the center aisle of the darkened Sanctuary carrying a candle, singing that carol. It's the version that begins Benjamin Britten's "Ceremony of Carols". It was just beautiful!

Merry Christmas!! Yeah, 73 should now be considered advanced middle age, especially since I'm advancing that way every year! LOL!

Merry Christmas! It's sorty cloudy, here, but we'll be up to 47 today. A couple of years ago, we had a HUGH snowstorm that started about 3pm Christmas Day. You just never know! Last night, I went to Midnight Mass in a short sleeve blouse; of course it was hot up in that Choir loft!

Did Gypsy girl get a stocking for Christmas?

Big, nutty family Christmases are FUN! Hope yours is, too! I'm waiting for the Cinnamon Rolls to cool slightly so I can glaze them. Then we'll wake the kids up to open gifts!

We didn't get to bed until after 4am, cause the Choir party went on til about 2:30, but it was a lot of fun.

Gypsy got her walk, her bits of Christmas cookies, and she is now faithfully guarding the kitchen as I prepare the Lamb with Cashew-Nut Curry we are having for Christmas dinner, but, alas, no Christmas stocking :-)

heh, good day for indoor type festivities; cooking, snacking, eating, baileying (is that a word?), watching the fire and listening to music, it's the same thing that we're doing. :-)

Mmmmm.....Bailey's....

Thought about putting tequila in my Festive Christmas Fruit Salad but decided against it. Minors would be partaking.

Mmmm...pork products. Just got up from the table and we're letting dinner settle before consuming apple pie. Joseph still has to make it, anyway, so there some nice lead time there.

Sitting in front of the fire watching the end of Calendar Girls. What a absolutely delightful movie!

LSA's lamb curry was superb, the Christmas lights are lit, all's quiet in ourshire; time for some tea then some eggnog; quite a nice Christmas Day.
