The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I hate all you folks who get decent vacation. In order to not waste the money we spent on tickets before I got my new job, I have to take three days of negative vacation. I'm going to have to do some fancy shuffling of stuff to make a couple committments we have this summer and still be able to do a trip next fall.

If you see this before you leave, don't forget to get the trash out. I remembered on the way to work :P

Hey...I'll trade. You be almost 50 and I'll be in my early 20s. Then you can have all my vacation.

;-)

For now, there's one more day of work and I gotta get to it.

Later.

That was one of the chores I planned to do this morning. No worries! I didn't reline the kitchen trash but did get all the recycling, even the glass.

The vacation doesn't really bug me... it's that Talon gets eight work days off this Christmas/New Years, and I get three. Which would have been fine if we'd known about it earlier. Sigh.

I think trash out is a traditional man job.

Good morning :~) Storm never amounted to much here... I slept through most of it. It poured all night, but not much wind to speak of.

This storm had a back wall on it that ended with clear, so when it stopped raining I knew it was over. Still have power and my house is still clean :~)

Trash and recycling may be one of the only logical reasons to grow a teenager.

The trash doesn't care who takes it out. Plus we'll miss next trash day so I wanted to be sure it got out. It was raining last night so we ignored it and Talon left before 6 so I don't blame him. This time ;-D

Yeah, yeah, I shouldn't grumble. I'm just really restless today. Combination of my eleventh straight day of flu, and karate last night being really hard. I have all this nervous energy that wants to go somewhere and can't. It's really hampering my brain.

Also I am getting less thrilled about the whole Christmas scheme by the day. It's a good plan, going both places, and I know we're really blessed to be able to, but right now I sort of just want to stay in our nice quiet house all week.

Do what we did. Have a kid and say "he needs to be home for Christmas."

Actually for the first few years of our marriage we'd travel between the two sets of parents. They're only three hours apart. So we'd Christmas Eve at one place and after opening presents on Christmas morning would drive to the other place for Christmas dinner. We did that even after Jr. was born.

We actually stopped that the year I had my cancer surgery right before Christmas and we wondered "why did we ever do it any other way?"

And BTW, the actually Christmas Day count is 24, not 23.
