The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Fair enough! My Accuweather site is still predicting only winds in the teens... of course, the problem is the gusts :~)

re: "of"; funny how missing one letter can change the sense of a sentence.

Very cool! I watched Season One and half of Season Two before losing track of the show. I need to get back into it...

The thing is, it still makes sense... just a different sense. ;-)

Heh...it didn't occur to me that it was written wrong until Bear pointed it out. It does still make sense. ;-)

I'm kinda simultaneously catching up and watching the new episodes...which I suppose I shouldn't be doing...

I'm doing that with Girl Genius... it's actually kind of neat, because it's like reading two completely different stories with the same characters.

I'm so hooked on these characters, for the most part! They do a good job of giving them a lot of depth.

Even the ones I don't like have a lot of interesting complexity.

Well, I think it's just a great tip! I made a red velvet cake (in honor of the NW storm victims...don't ask me why, it was as good a reason as any) and the crumbs in the frosting make it look like the scene of a murder!
...I could tell in the wedding pictures. Her smile was fake. Her eyes empty.

I hope he at least laughs when he opens it. To me, it woulda been worth it.

You know, Terra (my old greyhound) got hit by a car. It tore her skin from one "armpit" over her back at the base of her neck to the other armpit and pealed it back to nearly her tail. She didn't have any broken bones or torn muscles amazingly, but it almost skinned her alive. She had drains and stitches like you wouldn't believe and I treated her like she was in intensive care (she was...had an IV and everything at home) and stayed at her side till it healed up all but a huge hole in her skin, 2" across that wouldn't heal. I say, you could see her muscles. I tried everything. Finally, I tried some burn medicine we had and would just rub it right into that gapping hole. Then I put a tie-dyed t-shirt on her so she couldn't lick and it worked. It healed right up.

Just a few weeks later she bit Matthew.
...I never even met the lady. It all happened pretty fast. He's just shattered.

The forecast just keeps right on saying it'll pick up next hour... at 6 it said wind picking up to 15, at 7 it said picking up to 15, at 8 it said picking up to 15.

Funny how you can't ever go back on forecasts and rate them :~)
