The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

doggone it... :-)

Well, it's going to be windy tonight. Maybe you'll get to use it again.

G'mornin'...

Talked to Dad a bit ago. Still no power out at the beach. Still no DSL either, even though the phone seems to work. Centurytel doesn't know why.

Maybe the DSL router thing needs to be reset? our cable modem does sometimes when it's been out. It's got a reset button that's inside a pinhole that will reset it with a new IP and everything, and that will sometimes work if unplugging it and plugging it back in doesn't.

We're fine! We just grumble a bit at change... we can live with either system, but we'd like to depend on one or the other :~)

Haven't tried that. We've power cycled it several times over the last few days.

He called Centurytel this morning though, and they were "unsurprised" that the DSL didn't work. They've apparently got big network problems. They just didn't have an explanation why the phone works but not the DSL.

Y'all have Netflix, right? I've got a movie suggestion for you, in case you haven't seen it. It's called The Station Agent. It's about a man (Peter Dinklage) with a dwarfism syndrome who inherits a train depot from a friend, and tries to live there in solitude, but circumstances prohibit that. It was howlingly funny in places, and very plaintive in others.

Had y'all seen the Sci-Fi series "Threshold"? Peter Dinklage is the dwarf actor who played in that series. I remember being surprised by the deepness of his voice, though I don't know why. I wasn't expecting the Lollipop Guild, but it still surprised me. His was an interesting character in "Threshold".

Hey, I made an excellent discovery!

We like cake, but if I make an entire cake mix, it's too much cake. So I have started making 2 nine inch layer cakes and freezing one layer for later. I have found that it is very easy to frost a frozen cake!

Apparently this is a well-known tip, but I didn't know it!

So, it's Wednesday...

Organization's "Holiday Brunch" was this morning. Nice time, but at the beginning, this one lady - we'll call her "dingbat" knocked over some electric candles and threw a breaker.

But during the middle of it, wife calls and says we sold Jr's old car. Woo Hoo...and no, he does NOT get the money. Why do you ask?

Then, and I've mentioned some of this to 2J. Had an earache earlier this week. Went to the doctor who gave me an antibiotic and ear drops. So now, it doesn't hurt, but it ~is~ stopped up and I can't hear.
