The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

That would be my thought as well; after determining if the line was hot or not. :-) Those look bigger than what I would want to tackle with limited experience and a little homelite. That mid-suspension, wires under tension, that adds some new dynamics to a felling and bucking problem.

What I wondered is if there's elasticity to the lines, so as you remove weight, would it move? Doesn't look like it from that last one I just posted, but others, maybe it might.

What the heck is going on out there? It sounds too booming to be gunfire, sounds more like blasting. But why would anyone be doing that at this time of night?

We still haven't gotten started on dinner. Trying to break inertia.

I dunno. I've been wondering that. Shooting off cannons doesn't seem like a good evening hobby, either.

I'm not feeling much like moving around either. Feel like hitting the hay pretty early. Still behind on sleep, I guess.

Hair's in the bath and dinner's finally underway, if you want to head over in a few.

That crossed our minds, but it's a weird time of day to be doing something like that.

Yes, good point about the wires under tension...I'd rather let a tree expert go after it myself. Even those guys get hurt sometimes, I believe.

Well...unless you're my landlord. But I don't think he had any trees to blast...

"Imbibing corn by the gallon, right?"

Yeah, pretty much, corn from a jar...well, from bottles really, most of 'em, that had previously been acquired from the ABC store. I have to tell you, most of that shine stuff is a little too powerful for me. OTOH, so is the "store bought" stuff ;-)

My Cisco dog is such a good boy sometimes! On the way home, he sat quietly and waited for me to open the gate, then sat beside me and waited while I closed and locked it, walked with me to my gate, and again waited on either side.

OK, so the current good behavior is probably mostly brought on by being tuckered, but still...

One time my sister and I picked up our Christmas ham from the grocery store around the corner; we were about 9 & 10 at the time. Mr. Tyner included a golden liquid in a Mason jar, and we had no idea what it was. Found out later it was some corn likker, and that Christmas Night was the only time I ever saw my Daddy get the least bit tipsy. It was vey amusing!

Christmas can be a nice time for a drink. I may have one, and maybe take the time to reflect on happy family times in the past. And present and future :-)
