Yesterday, Tulsa saw temperatures drop from 70 degrees F to 45 degrees F within one minute's time. Tornado watches were issued ahead of the front with spotty reports of hail. As the storm progressed through Tulsa, thunderstorms pummeled the region with heavy rain and dangerous lightning (one strike hit a Catoosa home and burned it to the ground).
The rain continued unabated throughout the evening giving some parts of drought-striken Oklahoma three to four inches of rain with the remaining counties receiving at least two inches of precipitation.
Temperatures continued to drop in the overnight. The rain became ice and sleet until the region was covered with at least an inch of ice by daybreak. Currently, we are experiencing thunder ice storms. The NWS predicts 2-4 inches of ice to accumulate, then the storms will convert to thunder snowstroms in the afternoon hours. Accumulations of snow are expected to total 7 to 10 inches by Friday morning with higher amounts in various isolated areas. Winds are gusting to 35 mph so the NWS is predicting near blizzard conditions with drifting expected.
Friday and Saturday's outlook calls for frogs, water turning to blood, and off and on periods of fire and brimstone.
Still rain here in Southern Michigan but the temperature has dropped by nearly 15 degrees since 7 this morning.
I can remembers mornings going to classes at OSU with a light jacket or no jacket and walking through snow/ice and freezing in the afternoon after classes.
Still 60 degrees here in NY. May hit 65 today.
Our temperature readjustment comes sometime tomorrow.
It's currently 70 degrees where I'm at. It's going to 35 by the time I go to bed tonight.
65 in DC, will be in the 30's by Saturday daytime.
Snow around here is a nightmare, it turns into a frozen slushgluck that hangs around for weeks.
It's headed this way!!!! Highs in mid-70's today and tomorrow, then around 50 on Saturday, with high winds.
Shoot!! Can't go fishing again!
****
Love at first sight.
Tijeras, 11" and 7 degrees.
"...still it's a dry cold so it's comfortable."
Our friends in Denver always tell us that.
University of Oklahoma is closed today! They announced it last night and the city of Norman announced that they only have enough crews to keep open main arteries not neighborhoods. It is warming up tomorrow so roads will start to melt. Think we only had an inch of snow but it rained sleet last night so it is slick out.
Staying inside today except to let out the dogs! Made a pot of chili last night and going to relax! :)
Bite your tongue!!!
I miss the deeper south.
We've gone from 50's to wind chills of 7 overnight. And the snow is heading our way tonight through tomorrow night.
Sorry,
78 here.
