yanno, there were rumours that Gerard Butler was being looked at to be bond (imho, he'd have been a very good choice). anyone know why he got passed over for this poofter?

Wasn't Orlando Bloom in the running too? I like him, but DEFINITELY not as Bond.

Now Gerard Butler would have been a Bond who would have surpassed ALL previous Bonds, and I would have gone to see the Bond films repeatedly. . .I'm a tremendous fan (okay, practically a stalker, but he is so gorgeous!)

Take heart, Butler plays the Spartan King Leonidas in the upcoming "300", and apparently looks fabulous in his (ahem) codpiece costume.

I don't know why he got passed over for wimpy Craig, maybe because they didn't consult with ANY real female moviegoers?

Gerard would have been great (though I've heard rumors about him as well). Hugh Jackman was also in the running.
