Thank you!
"I certainly feel that way about Martin guitars."
Really? How so? My guitar is a Gibson and when I play a Martin I notice a huge difference - the tone is warmer and the treble freqs more distinct. I think Taylor makes some guitars that sound close to that Martin sound.
It might have something to do with the sound coming out of the sides of the guitar - IMO the Martin sound is more noticible when you play one rather than in the audience.
I guess I misunderstood - I thought you were saying the sound wasn't distinctive, and I disagreed. Whether or not it sounds good is more subjective and a matter of personal taste.
I will have to look into this Alvarez Yairi as I am unfamiliar with it. Thanks for the tip.
Fair enough - I have played a lot more Sears guitars than high-end ones in my life :)
I saw that special as well, and I too like this much more romantic theory.
That's what researchers do, tho. 'Dig' into mysteries, on your buck. That being said, as a violinist, I find this fascinating.
And certainly worthwhile research -- trumps much of the research that is funded today, ie Global Warming, Genetic Causes of Homosexuality, How to Make America Marxist So the Stupid-People Won't Know, etc. All of which, you can bet, is being researched and funded. Probably by the taxpayers (ie, the Stupid-People).
