My clients are staying the heck away from Vista, even though one client gets the el cheapo $35 per copy XP and $35 per Office 2003 pricing since they are a non-profit. Might go to Office 2007 however.

re: Linux, I use PCLinuxOS and Mepis(Based on Ubuntu, but uses KDE and has other changes) but it isn't a replacement for Windows IMHO and should only be used in a dual boot enviroment OR on an OLD manchine. JMO

FYI, the "N" versions are directed toward Korea and the EU because they don't have Media Player.
