I wrote
today's political limerick about this.
Several comments:
I guess, given the story, he was practicing TM. As in Transcendental Masturbation.
I guess "Thy rod and thy staff" DIDN'T comfort him too much.
"Prawing Euanontouch"--sounds like Pidgin English for -- "Praying You-A-Non-Touch".
Which seems highly appropriate.
Cheers!

Sounds like this guy applied Mark 9:43 a little zealously:
"If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better to enter heaven with only one hand than to go into the unquenchable fires of hell with two hands."
...oh, and could you consider this guy's behaviour an example of reductio ad absurdum?
Cheers!

Prawing declined to comment on the monk's erection, which Bangkok-based Kom Chad Luk tabloid reported on its Web site. He's totally out of the The Contest, that's for sure.

saying he had renounced all earthly cares To each is own, I guess, but do any of these religious zealots stop to think that maybe the Creator of the Universe imbued us with "earthly cares" for a good reason, and maybe every earthly care doesn't NEED to be renounced?
If I were the Creator of the Universe, I'd feel slighted. I'd meet them at the door to the afterlife saying, "You know, you were going to NEED that up here, ya moron."

The 35-year-old monk .... allowed medical staff at Maharaj hospital, 780 km (480 miles) south of Bangkok to dress his wound, but refused reattachment, hospital chief Prawing Euanontouch said. So now you have Prawing Euanontouch and the Praying Eunuch...

For some are eunuchs because they were born that way; others were made that way by men; and others have renounced marriage because of the kingdom of heaven. --
Matthew 9:12 or thereabouts.
Compare to Shakespeare:
some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them"-- Twelfth Night
, Act II, Scene V.
By the way, there are those that don't appear to agree with this Monk, including those whose work requires careful concentration:

Cheers!

This is a very good item for all of those who believe that eastern mystics posess higher knowledge. Clearly, this fellow and those like him are competely nuts. The danger here is in believing that those boys actually know anything or have any real insight into the nature of reality.
To: Continental Soldier
this fellow and those like him are competely nuts. Especially, now.
