He croons songs including "Frosty the Snowman" on the festive CD 'Happy Holidays.'
Billy Idol has stunned his diehard fans by ditching his punk image to record an album of classic Christmas songs.
The rocker croons a selection of songs including "Frosty the Snowman," "Winter Wonderland" and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" on the festive CD 'Happy Holidays.'
And the British rocker insists he had no trouble hitting the right notes, because the songs just flowed out of him.
He says, "These songs were a challenge to sing as so many other singers have interpreted them in their own style.
"It was fun to come up against all that and find that these songs sing themselves."

Too bad today's kids won't be able to get my favourite Christmas album - the one done by the Crypt Keeper from "Tales from the Crypt".

Hi All- I wonder if he'll have his signature "snarl" on his face when he sings these classic Christmas songs on video?

I was never a big Billy Idol fan , but always dug the song Eyes Without A Face I'm 49 and still crank up the volume every time Eyes Without a Face is on the radio. His guitarist(name?)back in those days was one of the best.

Not one of my favorites either, liked some of his songs, but what I really like about him is that he "shuts up and sings". I respect him for that at least.

Can a Guns And Roses Christmas album be far behind?

Ya, I'd have to agree and say that that's worse. Way worse!
Maybe somewhere along the lines of "We're not gonna take it" to "We're gonna take it back" LOL

Good for Billy! I heard one song oh his MySpace page, and it sounded good: stripped down, just relying on his distinctive voice and rockabilly/punk-background style, with just a bit of backing instruments. I'm going to buy the CD!
Out of general principal, I don't post to MySpace pages, but if you go to Billy's official website for the album, you can see the link for his MySpace page and listen to some cuts. (I guess he's letting MySpace pay for the songs' bandwidth traffic.)
I can just imagine what he'll come up with for Christmas '07: "It's Looking Like a 'White Wedding' Christmas"....

OK, a Billy Idol Christmas album is better than a N.W.A. Christmas album
I least, I can understand Billy when he sings

Ahem. Yes. We know about that Billy. Although his use of drugs just seems to flow IN him. Well and then there's the Heidi Fleiss girls he was...um, enjoying.

That's him now???? I thought it was an old pic of some 50's idol. Well I was half wrong. Or maybe fully right.
Gone are the crazy dreads I see.
