A 92-year-old woman was shot to death Tuesday after she fired at three narcotics officers trying to serve a warrant at her house, officials said.

common sense advice, but law enforcement rarely uses that when it comes to "drug" raids. she's lucky she wasn't assaulted by swat.
I was the first to post this story at 12:12 last night. My post has the AJC article but there are other sources. Some say the lady shot as cops were appoaching, some say she shot after they kicked in the door. Lots of confusion on this one (big sursprise /s).

The article states they were there to serve a warrant. There must have been evidence of some kind that illegal activities were taking place there.
Well, when I lived in Mableton Ga, back in my early 20's (yes, have past I'm not proud of) we went to an old black woman for our.... stuff (only the mild tobaccy kind). She would pass it through the burglar bars on her front door and you would pass the cash.
Sweet little old lady making bookoo cash.
damn good shooting, you know the agents were all weraing body armor. I wonder if she was actually aiming for the extremities.
What happened to investigative reporting? I'd like to know what kind of firearm she has and also did she just shoot from a standing position, did she dive into a prone one, or perhaps she did a leaping summersault being a chair came up firing and yelling 'eat lead, pigs!' before being taken out.....
"Its entirely possible she has a young relative who has conducted serious criminal activity from there and its ewntirely possible it was a terrible screw up."
Sure, anything is possible -- for example, to see pigs flying is possible.
There's no indication of what you suggest in the story or the local news. In fact, a 75-year old neighbor of this lady had been raped and this lady was apparently terrified it would happen to her. That's why her house was like a fortress.
I am attempting to not judge beyond the facts available - I said it is possible that someone other than old lady did something to merit a search of the house and I don't see how, given current info that one can argue that is not a possibility.
Just another ordinary day in the so-called War on Drugs.....
The article states they were there to serve a warrant. There must have been evidence of some kind that illegal activities were taking place there.
And the police were all plainclothes, which means not identifiable.
I don't know why you send undercover plainclothes people to SERVE A WARRANT. I would send a fully decked out police officer for that so there was no confusion.
I did wonder if they all got shot because none of them could believe a 92-year-old woman was shooting them.
She was heard to shout, "I'm the only one here professional enough to have a Iver Johnson Top-break .32"
"Police said they had the right address."
It was the right address if they wanted to kill a 92 year-old woman and get three cops shot. Sounds like a fouled-up operation to me.
Here's an interesting angle. I wonder if someone with pull was trying to buy her property cheap.
WOD bump.
The nice thing about a Mossberg or other 12-guages is that you can be off by a bit, and still get the job done.
"it was rusty, but apparently it was working well."
Well, that one got me to spew coffee!
War on Drugs uber alles.
Latest collateral damage in the illegal war on drugs.
The CNN article on this story said the cops "knocked and announced" before they "forced open the door." I would bet that the announcement happened at the moment the battering ram took out the front door. The poor woman may have gotten spooked if she saw the plain clothes cops lurking in the dark, before crashing in.
"As the plainclothes Atlanta police officers approached the house about 7 p.m., a woman inside started shooting, striking each of them..."
As they "approached" the house? So, they broke the door down AFTER she shot them?
I wonder what would happen if the plainclothes cops broke into a home on a tip, were all gunned down DEAD by the owner who had a permit for his weapon and no drugs were found.
Think a good attorney could get the guy off.
