Looks like Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 is trying to be forced on to one's computer. My updates just converted Explorer 6 to 7.
I hear IE 7 is supposed to be a big improvement over IE 6. As for Firefox, you can't go wrong there. It's fairly solid.
you can remove it, and prevent it from trying to upgrade it again.
Thanks....How so?
It tried to do that to me too, but I opted for Custom Updates rather than Express and was able to exclude it (for now). I think I'll wait for the first service patch to be issued before I upgrade to it.
It was forced onto one buddy's computer and wrecked a lot of links. I repaired them manually, but ultimately Ayieeeeeeeeeeeee! (er, I mean "IE") is a massive pipe perfect for pumping sewage onto your hard drive.
I've been using Mozilla/Firefox for more than four years, and highly recommend it. (Be sure to get Thunderbird for email too.)

The day when Microsoft let you make the decisions about what gets installed on your computer have come and gone. If you run Windows, get used to it. Microsoft owns your PC. They honestly believe they own the whole industry.
Thanks, Ivan
I just received a new laptop from dell. Loaded with crap that I didn't order or want. Free trials etc. Especially annoying, Google toolbar, Google search, Mcaffe internet suite, junk and more junk!
I have and use both, mostly Firefox. The new IE 7.0 is a lot better than 6 so you might consider using it. Firefox works great but it still requires many "extensions" to make it do what it's capable of. Extensions, meaning you can customize it for your needs. There should not be a conflict using both so you can do that as well as you choose which one you want to stay with.
I have played around with KUbuntu, and I like it so far.
thanks. never heard of swiftfox till now.
Piece of crap *still" cant resize
text worth a turd...Much less allow
the user to set a personal default
for text size.
Whenever MS updates wants you to download something...select Custom install. This will allow you to de-select any updates you don't want.
Of course, you need to have Updates set to alert you but do nothing until you say so.
I've been asked 4 times to upgrade to IE7. 4 times I have refused. Firefox rules.
I'm just tired of startup being loaded with so much crap that I don't want.
I love firefox and I really like the add ons for the personalized home page....good luck
I do have one PC with PC BSD, and that runs KDE - it's fine, as sophisticated as anything you'll find out there.

Our intranet doesn't work well with Firefox either.
