You are correct, had this war taken place in another country summary executions would have been the order of the day rather than expulsions.
However, there are those who will do or say anything to dispagage the heroes who saved the Union and glorify the Traitors who tried to destroy it rather than address the Evil of Slavery.
As Americans, we have little to beat ourselves up about regarding slavery. It has existed literally everywhere, virtually since the dawn of man.
Most enslaved others for many hundreds, often thousands of years. Indeed, many continue even today.
By comparison, slavery only existed under the US flag for 80 years; and under the Confederate flag for 4 years.
By any comparison, the US should carry very little shame about slavery.....and the 'South' even 20 times less than that.
We have all been taught too well how to disparage each other.
Some day....just one day, it would be a pleasure to not hear how America, or Americans are evil; to not hear how much we suck.
Obviously, today is not that day.
Written like a true Yankee fanatic! The only difference between you and a terrorist is skin color, your way of thinking is exactly the same! Rubbish and myopic! Only those who can view things with an open mind (meaning both sides) can be considered a serious student of history.
On the other hand, I don't think it is healthy to gloss over that which makes us uncomfortable, such as the fact that it was legal to buy and sell slaves in some northern teritories even after the war and the emancipation proclemation didn't free slaves then under Northern control. Also, Lee freed his slaves at the war's outset, while Grant owned slaves throughout the war.
you have ALWAYS been an APOLOGIST for the WORST atrocities committed by the TENS of THOUSANDS by the hypocritical,hate-FILLED, racist, DAMNyankees.
