I just happen to believe that the powers that made it happen did so from DC, not from a perspective of North vs South. Slavery is an utter abomination. This was just not the way to go about ending it. Lincoln was out of touch with the people. That's rubbish. The secessions began before Lincoln was sworn in, and the Confederate VP's speech about the CSA constitution spells out that slavery was only vaguely protected under the US Constitution, and that had been rectified -- not to mention that the CSA attacked federal installations and started the War. The sovereignty issue had to do with holding other human beings -- those with black skins -- as property.
And you need to wipe the manure from yours.
I wouldn't call University of Texas, "matchbook u".
And I am not convinced of your knowledge either.
Stand and I have disagreed from time to time, but I don't intend to let you bulldoze over him. His heart is in the right place.
you can either accept what i said as historical FACT or not. frankly, i do NOT care, either way.
i've spent countless hours doing research for people on this forum over the years.
do you know what all those people have in common??? not even ONE said: thank you. thus i don't do FREE research any more.

I want to thank you for your offer though. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
that's why MG benjamin "SPOONS" butler was able to "clean out" his fill of private property (like silver, china, furniture, clocks, jewelry, etc) from private homes, churches, synagogues & public buildings in LA & ship them home by the car-load to MA, without risk of prosecution.(the BEAST was NOT alone in organized grand larceny on a huge scale.)
grant's slaves & those of his immediate family were EXEMPT from MO law. and being u.s. grant, who was going to court martial him???

the BLOOD of a MILLION Americans is indelibly on his hands, because POWER & his EGOmania was more important to him than PEACE.
that's why i refer to him as the GREAT BLOOD-SPILLER.

i keep hoping that he will head over to DU to be with his "buddies" from "the DAMNyankee coven of lunatics, REVISIONISTS, fools, nitwits,, bigots & at least ONE outright RACIST".
imVho, FR would be FAR better if we weren't "blessed with" his company.
fwiw, he CANNOT "bulldoze" me as he hasn't either the wit, IQ or historical knowledge to do that to a 3YO child. he's just a VULGAR, LOUD-mouthed twit.

the war between blue & gray continues. by other means than gunfire.

PRAY for our troops in CONUS and especially abroad on a foreign battlefield.
i just got off the phone with a young marine Lance Corporal (the youngest son of one of my friends), who arrived home from Iraq 2 days ago. he said that from what he hears on the shortwave radio & on "the www" that America cares LITTLE for her troops & simply wants the US out at any cost.
i told him that that was FALSE & NOT to believe everything you hear from the media.
fwiw, i was SADDENED by the phoncon. it reminded me of how my generation of GIs felt in the 1971-74 period, when the populus "turned their backs" on us. DON'T let them be forgotten, this time.

Chafee meets with Palestinian finance minister
http://chafee.senate.gov/israel_gallery.htm
From a Google cache of Chafee's campaign site:
" He also believes that a peaceful, stable, democratic, viable and contiguous Palestinian state is in the best interests of the Palestinians, as well as in US and Israel national security interests."
Now think for a minute what Israel will look like with a contiguous Palestinian state that includes the West Bank and Gaza.

stand:
It is really o.k. SUATK just makes himself look ridiculous with his insults and ad hominem attacks. He has no substance other than to quack and shout: TRAITOR! TRAITOR!........
He expresses sentiments that the Union Veterans themselves didn't even believe, after the war. He is really rather amusing :)
Here are the ratings for the rest of the northeast "Jew haters".
You really shouldn't make it so easy for someone else to make you look foolish.

Well, it's common knowledge that the South was blameless during the Civil War, and the North was the impetus behind all hatred and strife.
(psyche)
One other point: I have always been perplexed that the very thing which kept the Jews separate and 'chosen' in the eyes of God is the same thing which caused them to be reviled and rejected among (some) Gentiles.
It is amazing the Jews have retained their compassion and humanity all these years, considering what they went through at the hands of (some) Gentiles).
And it is truly a miracle that Jews have kept their identity so intact all these thousands of years considering they didn't even have a homeland. (until 1946)
