12-year-old NW girl creates stunning art

BOISE - People across the world are willing to pay millions of dollars for the profound paintings of a 12-year-old Idaho girl.

Now, those internationally recognized paintings are on display in Boise.

At first glimpse, Akiane Kramarik looks just like any other 12-year-old.

“She's a girl with braces who likes many things that other girls like,” Akiane’s mother Foreli said.

But unlike most girls her age, Akiane is up at four each morning, so she can devout at least five hours to a gift – a gift that has led many to call her a prodigy.

Her parents first noticed her talent at four years old, and now her pieces fill a large warehouse.

She says God is her inspiration and each of the paintings holds a story full of wisdom far past her age.

Akiane described what inspired to her to create the painting at right.

“The real meaning behind this painting is whatever we are, we will still wither even if its in an expensive vase if we don't have light,” she said.

Psychiatrists that have spent time with Akiane can't explain why she is a linguistic genius. They call it a miracle.

Akiane’s mom recognizes her daughter's gift, but she also says it takes a lot of effort.

“People don't realize that there are three or four paintings beneath each of these paintings, that she has to, she doesn't like it, she works, she struggles, she cries, and it's blood and sweat in her paintings,” her mother said.

As for her poetry, Akiane and her mom say that part is effortless.

Akiane calls it a privilege to be regarded as a prodigy but she says everyone has a special gift.

But it takes only one look at this remarkable collection to see the gift she possesses.

Her art will be on display this Saturday through December 18 at 855 Broad Street in the 8th Street Marketplace.

I think that if she is a fraud, she and her family have fooled many reputable people and organizations. According to the link, she will be having a live auction at Christie's in NY. You'd think that Christie's would have verified her talent if they are willing to put their name behind her.

here's work that was done by a 15 year old.... ...

the ability to translate what you see, to what you can draw and then understand how light can be used is a gift....

it can be developed and nurtured, but there are those that can "copy" and those that can "create"....

sometimes children are just gifted and allowed to develop their God given talents..... Tiger Woods, Stevie Wonder, Mozart, Speilberg, Blaise Pascal,Steve Wozniak,Wayne Gretzky,Franz Liszt, chopin, .....heck even Allison Kraus was a child prodigy...

by the way the painting was done by Pablo Picasso...

I really believe that God blessed these people with remarkable talent and that they in turn honor him by developing that talent.....

"Never underestimate the power of the human mind to believe what it wants to believe, no matter the conflicting evidence."

Caedmon Erb, "Politics and Reality"

I would hate to think of living my life, with as little faith as I see some of my friends and associates display at times...

Is it really so hard to believe that this child has been endowed with a true gift??

**sigh**

I am quite familiar with the Picasso, thanks. It is the work of a very talented 15-year-old, with insights and observations appropriate for the age.

The Jesus painting, purportedly by an 8-year-old girl, was not created by an 8-year-old girl. Not possible. The series of paintings in the "girl prodigy's" portfolio are telling, and look to me to have been created by several different artists. I would not at all be surprised if the lion was painted by this child.

Here's a question for you. If "Jesus" was painted by this child at 8, then why has the talent and the maturity level evidenced in this painting decreased in the artist supposedly painting at 12?

Almost a Boris Vallejo quality to them. Makes me wonder...

Aside from a regrettable paucity of huge boobs and platemail.

I'd like to know that too. To my (admittedly unskilled) eye, that's probably the best painting shown.

We don't exist before our conception.

I don't think this is a fake. It is certainly possible for a person, even a young child, with a natural talent to produce drawings like this with some training. Personally, I do not like this hyper-realistic style. The picture of potted plants in the window is the best of the lot, IMO. The one I posted above, of Britney Spears, is typical.

My dad has a natural talent. He started sketching when he was in the Navy during WW2, with no prior art training at all, and his drawings are pretty amazing. He did take art classes later.

My dad has only painted for a hobby, never professionally, which is a shame as his paintings are very Norman Rockwell-esque.

"St. Britney?"

Close, but not exactly. The painting title is "Angelic Love", a work by Akiane at age 11. The ethereal quality of the painting's subject is apparent in the uncropped view.
