Conservation officers who entered the home of a man who sought treatment for a poisonous snake bite found 15 venomous vipers, including cobras and rattlesnakes, inside.

Read any of the commentators on the bible like Matthew Henry, clark, Darby, Barnes etc- Plus the fact that TRUE miracles aren't being performed anymore cements the fact that the age of miracles has temporarily passed (in the end times they will happen again as a sign & young and old will prophesy & the prophesies will come 100% true just as the old prophesies came true 100%

let me try to explain a bit more- In the early years God/Jesus commissioned authorative speakers of God's word- they were not ordinary preachers, their mission was to spread God's word and prove that Christ was who He said He was- the early people were very skeptical of Christ's arrival- expecially the Jews. God allowed a special time of confirmation of His word through miracles by those He commissioned especially for the early spread of His word. Once Hi word had been well established and many beleived, it was no longer necessary to confirm the authenticity of His word by using to miracles to confirm the Word as genuine.

Again, the fact that we no longer witness true miracles- ie: events which superceed the natural laws like raising the dead, regenerating limbs etc. confirms that God has given enough proof and that the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is all that is needed for confirmation- and again- the fact that ture miracles don't happen pretty much confirms that churchs can't claim that only certain ones like drinking poison are still viable while others miracles like raising the dead aren't anymore-

the snake handler religions & certain charasmatics are practicing deception by claiming that- the early authorative speakers like the Apostles and early beleivers had all of the miracles- not a pick and choose selection of them- all these so called 'miracles' today are nothing more than annomylies that correspond with natural laws- a person can build up tolorance to poisin, and that is NOT a miracle- that follows the laws of nature & can be doen by anyone- there's nothign special about that- nor is there anythign special about 'healing' a hurt back, or asking God to heal- God MAY decide to heal something incurable, BUT I MUST stress that the early authorative speakers could heal ANYTHING at ANYTIME (sorry- not shouting- just stressing some key words)- this isn't the case with todays self proclaimed healers-And that is proof enough that they are being deceitful

There's a shortage of people able to turn water into wine ... probably because it's either wine or water - is or isn't. There's no "feel" it's wine ... or testimonials it's wine. It's either wine or water. Jesus had to perform miracles - in our time we accept on faith...

I'm sayin! I agree- no miracles going on today at the behest of any one person speaking and making it so as did the apostles. Yes, God can work to heal people, but if you'll note, people with lost limbs aren't receiving new limb regeneration in an instant at these 'healing events'- When this starts happening- give me a ring & I'll join the church that does such things pronto- until then I'll go on the knowledge that God has suspended miracles in favour of salvation through faith for now.

Healing is healing, no matter the method. Miracles are those actions that defy the normal in such degree as to be called miracles. Miracle man --- Next thing he knew, a "miracle" happened.

Andrew- I've said miracles do indeed still happen through prayer BUT only on God's terms and not ours- TW Remember the 'severed ear' that Peter sliced off the centurion? Scholars agree that it wasn't an ear- but the Dudes HEAD- Jesus restored this easily-

Elsie- those names aren't 'interpretations, they are commentary on the bible by scholars that have studied the bible in depth and context- As I said- when you find someone who is restoring lost limbs and raising the dead from nothign but a spoken word and a touch let me know, because I'm not seeing anyone able to walk around and raise the dead, heal lepers instantly, resotre sight everytime they encounter it (which is what the apostles were doing- they didn't just do a few isolated cases, they healed everyone by performing miracles-true miracles. Let me ask you something- Are you a CHristian? If so, are you able to raise the dead? If not, why?

According to the verses you quote EVERYBODY who is saved (beleives in Jesus) is capable of much greater miracles that even Jesus did- There is NO condition of the 'amount of faith' one must have- He states quite simply that beleif in Him should produce the ability to perform miracles. you see, these 'faith healers' prey on people and cause them to doubt THEIR abilities and their faith by insinuating that one must 'work their way up to a point' where performing miracles can happen. This is a works based faith- please show me in those verses where Christ said you have to 'concentrate reeal hard and not doubt for even a second' before you perform miracles- Better yet, show me the faith healers that are restoing severed heads with spit and dirt. If you're convinced miracles can be perfomed on demand as the apostles did, then that's your perrogative, but the evidence is non existent apart from select 'healings' by God in response to prayer should God decide to answer in the affirmative-

They've studied the original greek, Hebrew Aramaic etc and have a far deeper understanding than most people about the meanings of words which were VERY important to ancient middle eastern peoples. Words back then carried VERY specific meaninings and were used VERY carefully- unlike today

Now I do not consider myself a bible SCHOLAR, but by the grace GOD has given me, I can surely read and understand the printed page that plainly says EAR!

Not only  ear, but RIGHT ear!

Well, what are you going to do if a black mamba gets loose in the neighborhood? THAT is why it is against the law to have them, not to mention nutcases could put them in mailboxes in order to kill people (an example I recall reading a few years ago).

These snakes are extremely dangerous. They should only be kept by experts in zoos.

This guy was lucky that the Indianapolis Zoo had the right type of anti-venom. Otherwise, he would be dead as a doornail.
