In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

peripatetic \pair-uh-puh-TET-ik\, adjective
1. Of or pertaining to walking about or traveling from place to place; itinerant.
2. Of or pertaining to the philosophy taught by Aristotle (who gave his instructions while walking in the Lyceum at Athens), or to his followers.
3. One who walks about; a pedestrian; an itinerant.
4. A follower of Aristotle; an Aristotelian.

Example sentence:
I was born in Italy, my sister on the west coast of Canada, because my father was pursuing a peripatetic career as an artist.
-- Anna Shapiro, USA Today, July 13, 2000

Etymology:
Peripatetic derives from Greek peripatetikos, from peripatein, "to walk about," from peri-, "around, about" + patein, "to walk.".

Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Oooo, big words! A for you!

I should have worked in platitudinous palaver and piffle.

I'm a little off my game.

maybe that means that Bob Casey is the antichrist>?

One of 'em, anyway. I'd suspect Rendell first. Seriously, this guy is like something out of the 30s or 40s and people still buy his schtick. Now they're saying "will he finish his term or be asked to run for VP."

Heaven help us.

Joke for the day!

Subject: jury

A defendant was on trial for murder. There was strong evidence
indicating guilt, but there was no corpse. In the defense's closing
statement the lawyer, knowing that his client would probably be
convicted, resorted to a trick.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I have a surprise

for you all," the lawyer said as he looked at his watch.

"Within one minute, the person presumed dead

in this case will walk into this courtroom."

He looked toward the courtroom door.

The jurors, somewhat stunned, all looked on eagerly.

A minute passed. Nothing happened.

Finally the lawyer said, "Actually, I made
up the previous statement.
But you all looked on with anticipation. I, therefore,

put it to you that you have a reasonable doubt in

this case as to whether anyone was killed, and I

insist that you return a verdict of not guilty."

The jury, clearly confused, retired to deliberate. A few minutes
later, the jury returned and pronounced a verdict of guilty.

"But how?" inquired the lawyer. "You must

have had some doubt; I saw all of you stare at the door."

The jury foreman replied: "Yes, we did look,
but your client didn't."

I know that many folks have a love/hate or just plain hate thing for WalMart, but for folks like me who live in the middle of no where it is the only place to go for fabric, yarn, cross stitch thread and other assorted odds and ends for sewing/crafting. And it's obvious I'm not the only one........

Petition to SAVE the FABRIC department at Wal-Mart

I get to re-use a homework from two years ago. (of course, since it is my own homework I'm re-using, it can't be called plagiarism)

This fellow won't be peripatetic for a while since he tried to compensate for a petite prick by supergluing his rubber to his not so vast member as it were.
