ACTRESS SLAY' ILLEGAL LIVED IN BASEMENT DEN

November 12, 2006 -- Diego Pillco, the teen accused of killing indie-film actress Adrienne Shelly for fear he would be deported, lived in hiding with his illegal-immigrant relatives in a basement boiler-room hovel owned by their construction boss.
Access to the dungeonlike lair the 19-year-old shared with his brother Wilson and cousin in Greenwood Heights, Brooklyn, is hidden behind the main stairs of a three-story brick apartment building. A small door leads to narrow plywood steps and the windowless underground home.
Placed around the dingy space last week were a pair of dusty construction boots, a collection of religious icons, bottles of Crown Royal whiskey, pirated soft-core porn, Spanish horror DVDs - and receipts for money wired back home to Ecuador.
A living room is set up in the boiler room, and there are two makeshift bedrooms, a kitchen area and a bathroom.
The three worked for their landlord, Luis Hernandez, owner of the BCG construction company, who charged them about $100 each per month for their three dim rooms. He docked their pay for the rent money, neighbor Frank Diaz said.
Pillco was arrested Monday and charged with second-degree murder.
He was working for Hernandez on Nov. 1, renovating a West Village apartment, when Shelly, who also wrote and directed and had an office in the building, complained about the noise.
She threatened to call the cops, and Pillco, fearing his illegal status would be discovered, followed her to her upstairs apartment and knocked her to the ground, police said.
Thinking the blow had killed her, Pillco hanged Shelly by a bedsheet from the shower rod to conceal the murder as a suicide, police said.

They spit on our laws just by being here illegally. Since too many of our public officials sanction their illegal status, they learn not to respect our other laws. If it's OK to break one law, why not break some more?

It is a horrid example that our government has set. It is OK to break laws if you either provide campaign contributions or VOTES but if you are a normal LEGAL U.S. citizen you will be punished for deliberately breaking our laws. A real sick, perverted double standard, only achievable by our Washington pols....and half of the voters in this country could care less. A very sad day for America's true citizens, and a good day for illegals who will just continue to break our laws.

Witnesses said Hernandez and a group of his workers attempted to remove all evidence that illegal immigrants had been living in the basements of his adjoining buildings Thursday - carrying out furniture and personal items from the Prospect Avenue address.
"He doesn't want any more trouble, the jig is up," one neighbor said.
Why isn't this employer/landlord in jail too--the scumbag, murderer was not the only illegal he employed or rented to.
I hope Luis Hernandez is sued for all he owns. Criminal prosecution for harboring and hiring illegals would be nice too, but I'm not holding my breath for that one.
Where these illegals were raised gives very little importance to life. Killing someone is nothing more to them than drinking a beer.

I heard that illegals take 10 lives a day here in the US. That is on average quite a bit more than we lose in Iraq. Why don't we see updates about these numbers every morning on the MSM? Hell It was several days before I even found out that the killer in this case was an illegal (and I heard it on Howie Carrs radio show, not the MSM). I bet most people do not even know he was a "temporary guest worker".
He's registered, but he can't decide which sellout politician to vote for. Too, many to choose from.
I am so disgusted with our politicians in Washington. Both Republicans and Democrats.
The people want the borders closed. Politicians want to keep the economy rolling.
The new speaker, Nancy Pelosi, employs dozens of illegals in her farms and restaurants. Are we all supposed to pretend it's okay?
Why don't anti-illegal immigrant politicians go after Pelosi for employing illegals?
