OFFICIAL DRAFT DAN BOREN FOR SPEAKER THREAD
11 November 2006

Posted on 11/11/2006 7:07:45 AM PST by 11th_VA

As some of you may know Dan Boren (Lone conservative Democrat from the OK delegation) is contemplating a challenge to Pelosi for Speaker of the House.

Dan is one of 54 Blue Dog Democrats in the House. Since the Speaker is elected from votes from the entire house, if he could garner all the GOP votes and ~15 Blue Dog Democrat votes, he could beat Pelosi for the Speaker's position.

Now is the time to start the "DRAFT DAN" movement.

Action:

1) Start calling talk radio shows talk about the "DRAFT DAN" movement.

2) Call your representative (Republican and Democrat) and ask them to support Dan Boren for speaker

No chance of happening by itself. There is no way to defeat Pelosi as Speaker in an outright power play. Too many people are beholding to her and she comes from a tough political background. This idea could get some traction by having a power play to force some concessions. Thats the best that can be done.

We cannot afford to have Alcee Hastings as head of the Intelligence Commitee. Hastings was impeached as a judge. we can't afford him during the WOT to such a critical role involving keeping our secret. Jane Harman is a far better alternative. The play should be to get her to have the chairmenship and put in some moderates/conservatives in other leadership posts. If not, then vote her out as speaker and then vote for Boren.

Modest goals might work, an outright removal - no way. While there is this supposed influx of more conservative democrats, there is not enough votes to have a total power play. They might listen to reason if the goal is modest such as not having Hastings as Intelligence chairman. We at least start off with 2 democrats - Boren & Hastings. This also has the possibility that it gives the moderates a chance to flex their muscles immediately without a total threat. It just might work.

For anything to happen it must happen soon.

The Speaker does make committee assignments and at the least, we'd like to see the Blue Dogs where they can do the most good. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain by backing Dan Boren for House Speaker.

Mild disagreement. Pelosi as speaker has the potential to fracture the Democrats more than Boren. According to some reports she's planning on getting even with some of the moderate Democrats that may have disagreed with her over the yeares by denying them chairmanships or swithching committee assignments. This obviously has the potential to create dissention in the ranks, and she may well be smart enough not to do it. But I'd like to give her a chance to do some damage first.

Sorry folks, but it really is all about politics.

They won. We lost.

The best thing for the country would be to show them for who they really are. I'll be damned if I'm going to provide the fig leaf that allows the Congressional Democrats to pretend to be normal, rational, moderate, patriotic Americans.

They said they'd raise taxes? Go for it.
They said they'd redeploy troops to Okinawa. Now's their chance.
They wanted impeachent hearings? The door is open.

Elections have consequences. There will be a raft of dire consequences after this one, I am sure. But the country will survive. And so will the Republican party and the conservative movement.

The only good news is that two years from now, there will be another election. By the time that one comes around, I hope everyone who voted "D" in anger, disgust, disappointment, or fatigue will see just how foolish it was to put these people back into power.

Party caucuses normally use secret ballots, but voting on the floor can't be secret (except for the rare closed sessions.). I don't know anything about Boren, but he better have 15 pledged democrats before this goes forward.

I like it! Precisely what do we need to do to make it happen?

I think it would have to be pushed by Rush and Sean to happen - we need to call talk shows and make it an issue

She tries too hard to be pretty. Beneath that Armani pantsuit, plastic surgery exterior is a little woman needing to be loved and desired by all the men in the room. The elbowing should be easy, although the MSM will make her look "tough" as she exudes the hard exterior. (Armchair Analysis 101)

Flag this post. Two years from now, you'll chuckle about it, I promise you.

This is not a criticism of your post, only a question. What would the death toll be in Iraq if we pull out.

Usually, women make lousy leaders as their styles are more authoritarian and brittle than the collegiality men know. She doesn't get along with Steny Hoyer or Jane Harmon. She wants to dictate. Bad signs, imho.

I'm not sure. Could anyone really know the answer to that?

The point is that the Democrats ran on a cut-and-run-from-Iraq, raise-your-taxes, Republicans-are-evil platform.

And they won.

They have earned the right to implement their agenda.

I happen to believe that the political effects of that agenda will be catastrophic for them and beneficial for us.

Actually, the really fun thing is that they didn't. A great many of the Dems who actually won did so by claiming to be conservative -- pro-military, pro-life, focused on homeland security. Now that they're in, they have the choice of going along with Bela Pelosi or the voters who put them into office -- and can take them out if they go moonbat. It's going to be interesting.
