The computer animation in the tv add looked "cool" like old paperback art (although not necessarily taken from the Bond bookjackets).
Other than that, it looked to me like a REBOOT of the series.
The woman is in charge and it take place in the modern era, no?
Why CAN'T we watch a period film about the Cold War? Why is it we can only have period "bad guy" films about Nazis? Is there THAT much reluctance to say that the USSR was an evil empire?

Look for Richard Burton playing Alec Leamas in John LeCarre's "The Spy Who Came In From The Cold".
Or Alec Guiness playing George Smiley in "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" or "Smiley's People".
All three are superb, non gimmick-oriented treasures that show the power of words and manipulation of people and events over car crashes and gratuitous violence!
