My Jesus, I Love Thee
Text: William R. Featherstone
Music: Adoniram J. Gordon
1. My Jesus, I love thee, I know thou art mine;
for thee all the follies of sin I resign.
My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art thou;
if ever I loved thee, my Jesus, 'tis now.
2. I love thee because thou hast first loved me,
and purchased my pardon on Calvary's tree;
I love thee for wearing the thorns on thy brow;
if ever I loved thee, my Jesus, 'tis now.
3. In mansions of glory and endless delight;
I'll ever adore thee in heaven so bright;
I'll sing with the glittering crown on my brow;
if ever I loved thee, my Jesus, 'tis now.
Sing for joy, O heavens! Rejoice, O earth! Burst into song, O mountains! For the Lord has comforted His people and will have compassion on them in their suffering.
Yet they say, The Lord has deserted us; the Lord has forgotten us.
Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you! See, I have written your name on the Palms of My Hands. (Is.49:13-16)
I,even I, am the one who comforts you and gives you all this joy. (Is.51:12)
All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the Eternal King, the Unseen One who never dies; He Alone is God. Amen. (1Tim.1:17) (NLB)
