The Prayer Room: Praying for America, FR, and all who need it
Various | 11/8/06 | Knitting a Conundrum

Posted on 11/09/2006 6:49:58 PM PST by Knitting A Conundrum

Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

Psalm 127:1
>

At this time, when feelings run high, the world seems crazy, and anger seems to be the one thing the peoples of the world have in common, I invite you, my fellow FReepers, to join me in prayers and meditation for guidance, God's help and for our fellow man, for America, our troops,  and all our own needs.

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

William Bradbury

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult.

Psalm 46: 1-3

Daily Light on the Daily Path
Evening

God is in heaven and you are on earth. Therefore let your words be few.

“And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”

They . . . called upon the name of Baal from morning until noon, saying, “O Baal, answer us!”

“Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.’ . . . But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other.”

“Lord, teach us to pray.”

Eccl. 5:2; Matt. 6:7, 8; 1 Kings 18:26; Luke 18:10, 11, 13, 14; Luke 11:1

Bow down Thine ear, O Lord, and hear,
For I am poor and great my need;
Preserve my soul, for Thee I fear;
O God, Thy trusting servant heed.

O Lord, be merciful to me,
For all the day to Thee I cry;
Rejoice Thy servant, for to Thee
I lift my soul, O Lord most high.

For Thou, O Lord, art good and kind,
And ready to forgive Thou art;
Abundant mercy they shall find
Who call on Thee with all their heart.

O Lord, incline Thine ear to me,
My voice of supplication heed;
In trouble I will cry to Thee,
For Thou wilt answer when I plead.

There is no God but Thee alone,
Nor works like Thine, O Lord most high;
All nations shall surround Thy throne
And their Creator glorify.

In all Thy deeds how great Thou art!
Thou one true God, Thy way make clear;
Teach me with undivided heart
To trust Thy truth, Thy Name to fear.
—The Psalter, 1912

LORD, HELP ME TO CONSIDER MY WAYS, WHAT MAN IS, THAT YOU SHOULD BE MINDFUL OF HIM.
YOU ARE GOOD AND YOUR MERCY ENDURES FOREVER.
YOU ARE SAVING ME TO THE UTTERMOST THROUGH HIM WHO LOVED US AND WASHED US FROM OUR SINS WITH HIS OWN BLOOD.
YOU ARE GOOD AND YOUR MERCY ENDURES FOREVER.
LEAD ME IN THE WAY EVERLASTING.
AMEN.

Awesome Devotionals; Glorious Posts so Glorifying to our King! Our Lord Jesus, how we Praise and Exalt Thy Great Name!

Be Thou Supreme {Lyrics: J. Temperley Grey. Composer: P. Skene.}

Be Thou supreme, O Jesus Christ,
Nor creed, nor form, nor word,
Nor holy church, nor human love,
Compare with Thee, my Lord.

Be Thou supreme, O Jesus Christ,
Thy love has conquered me;
Beneath Thy cross I die to self,
And live alone to Thee.

Be Thou supreme, O Jesus Christ,
My inmost being fill;
So shall I think as Thou dost think,
And will as Thou dost will.

Be Thou supreme, O Jesus Christ,
Thy life transfigure mine;
And through this veil of mortal flesh,
Lord, let Thy splendors shine.

Be Thou supreme, O Jesus Christ,
My soul exults in Thee;
To be Thy slave, to do Thy will,
Is my felicity.

We Love You So, our Dear Lord of Gracious Love! Your Grace is our Strength, and Helps us Live Day by Day. In a Fallen World, our Salvation and Stay is Jesus Christ.

Thank You for Your Goodness to Your Littlest Lambs. We Praise You that Your Love is with us, and Ever Holds us Fast. "Bless the Lord!" is the Cry Within Thy Children's Hearts!

Be Pleased, Your Majesty, to be Glorified for All Time, Without End. In Jesus' Name, for His Excellent Praise we Pray, amen.

May God's Mercy be Upon you. (1Tim.6:21)

Please pray for this event. There’s a heavy spiritual confrontation that’s about to take place, to end the forty year cycle of the hippie generation and establish a generation of righteousness. Tens of thousands of kids are praying and fasting for this- they are serious!

I understand where you’re coming from- not knowing anything about this event, and first impressions.

Remember, though, that people speak out from their giftings, and the paradigm of a worshipping musician is different than a pastor or prophet. They will center on music every time, and rightfully so- for them.

Hos 6:1 “Come, let us return to the LORD; for he has torn us, that he may heal us; he has struck us down, and he will bind us up.
Hos 6:2 After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live before him.
Hos 6:3 Let us know; let us press on to know the LORD; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.”

CONTINUAL REPENTANCE
from The Valley of Vision

O God of grace,
Thou has imputed my sin to my substitute,
and hast imputed his righteousness to my soul,
clothing me with a bridegroom’s robe,
decking me with jewels of holiness.

But in my Christian walk I am still in rags;
my best prayers are stained with sin;
my penitential tears are so much impurity;
my confessions of wrong are so many aggravations of sin;
my receiving the Spirit is tinctured with selfishness.

I need to repent of my repentance;
I need my tears to be washed;
I have no robe to cover my sins,
no loom to weave my own righteousness;
I am always standing clothed in filthy garments, and by grace, am always receiving change of raiment,
for thou dost always justify the ungodly;
I am always going into the far country,
and always saying, Father, forgive me, and thou art always bringing forth the best robe.

Every morning let me wear it,
every evening return in it,
go out to the day’s work in it,
be married in it,
be wound in death in it,
stand before the great white throne in it,
enter heaven in it shining as the sun.
Grant me never to lose sight of
the exceeding sinfulness of sin,
the exceeding righteousness of salvation,
the exceeding glory of Christ,
the exceeding beauty of holiness,
the exceeding wonder of grace.

http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/b/e/b4tthron.htm

Before Thy throne, O God, we kneel;
Give us a conscience quick to feel,
A ready mind to understand
The meaning of Thy chastening hand;
Whate’er the pain and shame may be,
Bring us, O Father, nearer Thee.

Search out our hearts and make us true,
Wishful to give to all their due;
From love of pleasure, lust of gold,
From sins which make the heart grow cold,
Wean us and train us with Thy rod;
Teach us to know our faults, O God.

For sins of heedless word and deed,
For pride ambitious to succeed;
For crafty trade and subtle snare
To catch the simple unaware;
For lives bereft of purpose high,
Forgive, forgive, O Lord, we cry.

Let the fierce fires, which burn and try,
Our inmost spirits purify:
Consume the ill; purge out the shame;
O God! be with us in the flame;
A newborn people may we rise,
More pure, more true, more nobly wise.

Dear ovrtaxt,
I answered here.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1859096/posts?page=11#11

Despite what you say, we need to “center” on obeying the word of God, which we are not doing, and which is the issue.

All of your paradigm are belong to us!

Our “paradigm” is the Word of God and our obedience to it.

Joh 14:23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

Now, with The abiding Triune God, who can be against us?

Here is what will make the devil flee in this land,
Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

This Scripture is couched in terms of repenting from sin and obeying.

I know you know this. I am only trying to be very clear.

For any who are reading here, I responded at The call thread;

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1859096/posts?page=13#13

and now ovrtaxt, let me say that I am familiar with these things and people.
When I turned my attention to this, I recall that I have watched the progress of this and other such movements.

I repeat my initial concern over the “music revolution” concept.
There is no Biblical precedent or model for this in my view.

Plus, I think, to tell the truth, there is a mixture of youth culture, which promotes things that young people do beyond the merit of the thing done, and certainly emotional content, as any perishing group ought to feel, and an exaltation of the effort, more than the object of appeal, the LORD God Almighty.
NOTHING that we do is pure in motive or method. So don’t think I fault these young people for being young or having emotion or enthusiasm.

Time will tell, as always, whether or not we have satisfied The LORD with our obedience or continue in rebellion and confusion and sleep.
I am critical of what I first stated, about the “music revolution” bringing in the harvest, and changing society...
Do not be concerned with what I judge.
Obviously I am not The Judge.

It is essential that all who Name the LORD, as LORD, depart from sin.

I pray that you will continue to have a good LORD’s day and we know that all things work together for good, for them that love God and are the called according to his purpose.

In Christian respect,
bp7

O My Father, I have moments of deep unrest — moments when I know not what to ask by reason of the very excess of my wants. I have in these hours no words for Thee, no conscious prayers for Thee. My cry seems purely worldly; I want only the wings of a dove that I may flee away. Yet all the time Thou has accepted my unrest as a prayer. Thou has interpreted its cry for a dove’s wings as a cry for Thee, Thou has received the nameless longings of my heart as the intercessions of Thy Spirit. They are not yet the intercessions of my spirit; I know not what to ask. But Thou knowest what I ask, O my God. Thou knowest the name of that need which lies beneath my speechless groan. Thou knowest that, because I am made in Thine image, I can find rest only in what gives rest to Thee; therefore Thou hast counted my unrest unto me for righteousness, and has called my groaning Thy Spirit’s prayer. Amen.
~Rev. George Matheson (1842-1906)

But if we hope for what is still unseen by us, we wait for it with patience and composure.

So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance.

And He Who searches the hearts of men knows what is in the mind of the [Holy] Spirit [what His intent is], because the Spirit intercedes and pleads [before God] in behalf of the saints according to and in harmony with God’s will.
~Romans 8:25-27 (AMP)

Daily Light on the Daily Path
July 2

Morning

“This is the statute of the Passover: no foreigner shall eat of it.”

We have an altar from which those who serve the tent have no right to eat.—“Unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”—You were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise. . . . But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments and ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace.

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”

Ex. 12:43; Heb. 13:10; John 3:3; Eph. 2:12, 13; Eph. 2:14, 15; Eph. 2:19; Rev. 3:20

http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/l/e/t/lethim2w.htm

Let Him to whom we now belong
His sovereign right assert,
And take up every thankful song,
And every loving heart.

He justly claims us for His own,
Who bought us with a price:
The Christian lives to Christ alone,
To Christ alone he dies.

Jesus, Thine own at last receive,
Fulfill our hearts’ desire;
And let us to Thy glory live,
And in Thy cause expire.

Our souls and bodies we resign;
With joy we render Thee
Our all, no longer ours, but Thine,
To all eternity.
—Charles Wesley, 1745

OH LORD, let that knowledge of belonging to you, of being separated out to you, be strong and deep within.
We wait until we see your Face.

2Pe 1:16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
2Pe 1:17 For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
2Pe 1:18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
2Pe 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
Amen.

Wonderful Devotional, Dear Servant of the King, and a Blessing from His Good Hand. Thank you for these Times of Refreshment in His Word and Grace!

Daily Prayers, and Blessings to our Shepherd's Beloved Lambs.

Alleluia! Alleluia! {Lyrics: Christopher Wordsworth. Composer: Ludwig van Beethoven}

Alleluia! Alleluia!
Hearts to heav'n and voices raise;
Sing to God a hymn of gladness,
Sing to God a hymn of praise.
He Who on the cross as Savior
For the world's salvation bled,
Jesus Christ, the King of Glory,
Now is risen from the dead.

Now the iron bars are broken,
Christ from death to life is born;
Glorious life, and life immortal,
On this resurrection morn.
Christ has triumphed, and we conquer
By His mighty enterprise;
We with Him to life eternal
By His resurrection rise.

Yes! We Stand in Your Victory, our Lord and King! Through Sovereign Grace, we Love to Praise Your Name. Glory to You, our God! Glory through All Eternity to the Lamb!

Our Redeemer, in You is All our Hope. You are our Salvation, and Forever we will Exalt Your Grace!

May You Increase, King Jesus, and we Decrease, to Your Praise. Thank You for Loving us, and for Dying to Bring us Life. For Your Excellent Glory, we Exalt You, Abba-Father, amen.

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, from Everlasting to Everlasting.
Let All the People Say, "Amen!" Hallelujah! (Ps.106:48)
