Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
Psalm 127:1>
At this time, when feelings run high, the world seems crazy, and anger seems to be the one thing the peoples of the world have in common, I invite you, my fellow FReepers, to join me in prayers and meditation for guidance, God's help and for our fellow man, for America, our troops, and all our own needs.
Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Fathers throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempters snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!
William Bradbury
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult.
Psalm 46: 1-3
Fire,
Fire from above,
fire that burns the chaff away,
fire that refines the rough ore into shining metal,
fire that transforms darkness into light,
Power of the living God,
falling from heaven to consume the sinful city,
falling from heaven to totally consume Elijah’s offering,
falling like tongues of fire and a roaring wind
to kindle in those gathered the fire of your love,
Spirit,
Breath of God transforming the world
touching our lives anew,
each day a new Pentecost
to those who welcome you.
Breathe in us, Holy Spirit,
and let us be transformed
by the power of your touch
by the power of your love
into children of the living God,
willing tools for you to use
as you renew the face of the earth.

Amen. Send the Holy Fire, LORD.
Amen to the whole, Christ's Beloved. This passage, in particular, seems to come out of my own heart, over my own lips. Thank you.
2Ti 2:11 The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we will also live with him;
2Ti 2:12 if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us;
2Ti 2:13 if we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself.

Php 4:13 For all things I have strength, in Christ’s strengthening me;
LORD, HELP US IN ALL THAT WE DO, TO GLORIFY AND BRING PRAISE TO YOUR NAME, TO THE SON OF YOUR LOVE, BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
HELP US TO STAND, AND AFTER WE HAVE DONE ALL, TO STAND.
MAY THE WORDS OF MY MOUTH AND THE MEDITATIONS OF MY HEART BE ACCEPTABLE IN YOUR SIGHT, OH LORD MY STRENGTH AND MY REDEEMER.

Come, come, ye saints, no toil nor labor fear;
But with joy, wend your way.
Though hard to you this journey may appear,
Grace shall be as your day.
Tis better far for us to strive
Our useless cares from us to drive;
Do this, and joy your hearts will swell
All is well! All is well!
Why should we mourn or think our lot is hard?
Tis not so, all is right.
Why should we think to earn a great reward,
If we now shun the fight?
Gird up your loins; fresh courage take;
Our God will never us forsake,
And soon well have this tale to tell,
All is well! All is well!
Well find the place which God for us prepared,
In His house full of light,
Where none shall come to hurt or make afraid;
There the saints will shine bright.
Well make the air with music ring,
Shout praises to our God and King;
Above the rest these words well tell,
All is well! All is well!
And should we die before our journeys through,
Happy day! All is well!
We then are free from toil and sorrow, too;
With the just we shall dwell!
But if our lives are spared again
To see the saints their rest obtain,
O how well make this chorus swell,
All is well! All is well!
Amen. Thank you for the whole post, for its encouragement. May He find us faithful when He comes.

All that Thrills my Soul {Lyrics and Composer: Thoro Harris, 1931.}
Who can cheer the heart like Jesus,
By His presence all divine?
True and tender, pure and precious,
O how blest to call Him mine!
All that thrills my soul is Jesus,
He is more than life to me;
And the fairest of ten thousand
In my blessed Lord I see.
Love of Christ so freely given,
Grace of God beyond degree,
Mercy higher than the heaven,
Deeper than the deepest sea!
All that thrills my soul is Jesus,
He is more than life to me;
And the fairest of ten thousand
In my blessed Lord I see.
What a wonderful redemption!
Never can a mortal know
How my sin, tho red like crimson,
Can be whiter than the snow.
All that thrills my soul is Jesus,
He is more than life to me;
And the fairest of ten thousand,
In my blessed Lord I see.
Every need His hand supplying,
Every good in Him I see;
On His strength divine relying,
He is all in all to me.
All that thrills my soul is Jesus,
He is more than life to me;
And the fairest of ten thousand
In my blessed Lord I see.
By the crystal flowing river
With the ransomed I will sing,
And forever and forever
Praise and glorify the King.
All that thrills my soul is Jesus,
He is more than life to me;
And the fairest of ten thousand
In my blessed Lord I see.
There is therefore now No Condemnation
Awaiting those who Belong to Christ Jesus. (Rom.8:1)
Dear Kitty Mittens, I had not heard this hymn before, so THANK YOU!! IT WAS A BLESSING.
Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

I sing the mighty power of God, that made the mountains rise,
That spread the flowing seas abroad, and built the lofty skies.
I sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day;
The moon shines full at Gods command, and all the stars obey.
I sing the goodness of the Lord, who filled the earth with food,
Who formed the creatures through the Word, and then pronounced them good.
Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed, whereer I turn my eye,
If I survey the ground I tread, or gaze upon the sky.
Theres not a plant or flower below, but makes Thy glories known,
And clouds arise, and tempests blow, by order from Thy throne;
While all that borrows life from Thee is ever in Thy care;
And everywhere that we can be, Thou, God art present there.
—Isaac Watts, 1715

You were the first person I thought of telling: Dad and I went to Goshen Dam yesterday afternoon (yes, we once lived in the Land of Goshen). We had a picnic, talked with a couple fishermen (who got lucky!), and watched a mating pair of loons dancing on the water. It was a gift, this event - I was hardly able to contain my joy and did quite a bit of squealing, actually - and I knew you would appreciate it. My dad is very smart: he had a pair of binoculars in the glove box, of course, so I could see every move they made. I was truly blessed, and the day was very fulfilling. I can't remember the last time Dad and I had such fun together, shared so much wonder, and laughed so much, even over my corny cowboy joke - "Did you hear the one about the cowboy who wanted a new pair of boots?" (Can't be shared here, but I actually remembered the punchline, which was another miracle :)
Truth.
bp,
This hymn is so beautiful !! Our choir at church sang it some years ago, and it is just filled with Majesty and Praise.
Kitty, let me also say THANK YOU for sending in these great scriptures, and hymns.
May Jesus Christ be praised today in our lives!

O Lord,
there are moments that we don’t understand
the chaos you present us with,
the darkness of the road ahead,
the pain and the suffering and grief.
In those moments when I want to scream out “Why me?”
let me hear your voice say “Why not you?”
and teach me the right questions to ask,
how to be salt and light even when the darkness surrounds me,
how to say, “Where does it hurt?”,
and “What can I do?”
and the hardest thing of all, “Help!”
May I this day, and always,
see Christ in those you put before me,
even when anger percolates through my heart
and I want to reach out and hit something,
even when tears touch my heart and eyes,
and I want to roll into a ball,
even when I have no answers,
except to remember you,
and the darkest of days,
and how you gave all.
O Lord,
teach me to love as you love,
this day and always,
Amen.

Hello Polly,
I’ve never heard it sung by a congregation before. I think it would be beautiful.
Praying for you and your family.
Love in Jesus,
Psa 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
Psa 51:11 Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
Psa 51:12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.

Isa 49:13 Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth; break forth, O mountains, into singing! For the LORD has comforted his people and will have compassion on his afflicted.
OH LORD, you chasten us and we return to you with a contrite heart.
We remember your Patience and Kindness, the extent of which we will never understand upon the earth.
Restore our Joy and Hope and expectation of good.
Thank you for Mercy toward us and the Wisdom which is Christ.
We have everything we need.

Gracious God, my heart renew,
Make my spirit right and true;
Cast me not away from Thee,
Let Thy Spirit dwell in me;
Thy salvations joy impart,
Steadfast make my willing heart.
Sinners then shall learn from me
And return, O God, to Thee;
Savior, all my guilt remove,
And my tongue shall sing Thy love;
Touch my silent lips, O Lord,
And my mouth shall praise accord.
Not the formal sacrifice
Has acceptance in Thine eyes;
Broken hearts are in Thy sight
More than sacrificial rite;
Contrite spirit, pleading cries,
Thou, O God, will not despise.
