Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
Psalm 127:1>
At this time, when feelings run high, the world seems crazy, and anger seems to be the one thing the peoples of the world have in common, I invite you, my fellow FReepers, to join me in prayers and meditation for guidance, God's help and for our fellow man, for America, our troops, and all our own needs.
Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Fathers throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempters snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!
William Bradbury
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult.
Psalm 46: 1-3

Today, Lord,
how small and weak I seem,
lost in my petty griefs and pains,
incapable,
weak,
sad.
O Lord,
refresh my heart
in the knowledge
that no matter how gray the world feels,
you are with me.
Remind me it is not my strength that matters,
but the firm hand you steady me with,
the strength you have
to use my weakness as your tool.
Touch me with that certainty
that it is not my joy that counts,
but the joy you whisper into my heart.
In my weakness, let me be your tool,
this day and always,
Amen

Amen Dear Knitting.
2Co 12:10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
In a world that swirls with anger, Lord,
teach me to love.
In a world that sees attack as a right and a joy,
teach me to cherish breaking the chains of hate.
In a world that seeks conformity in the name of tolerance,
teach me the patience to stand firm in peace.
In a world that seeks to strike out and hurt what it doesn't agree with,
teach me to follow in your footsteps,
in your way,
following your light,
touched by your love,
this day, and always.
Amen.
(someone somewhere (not here at FR) wrote me a nasty comment about my prayer blog about my church, my belief and my high horse attitude. I wanted to strike out, and I admit, I did report the message to the managers of the system, but then I thought about it - if I cannot deal with small verbal persecutions, how can I walk the walk I talk about? So in response, I wrote this prayer.)

Let me fly unto you, O Lord of my life
When the darkness is heavy with sorrow and strife,
Your light will cut through the dark like a knife,
O Lord, let me fly to your cross!
Let me hear your soft voice in my heart in the night,
O Lord, let it buoy me on the the light
Wherever I go, let me keep you in sight,
O Lord, keep me close to your cross!
A tool made for torture becomes love's bright shield
Transforming the weak into God's own ripe field,
Redeeming my soul if I answer and yield,
O Lord, through the gift of your cross!
Let me think of you often by night or by day,
Of that horrid hard Friday where Love had its way,
O fill my heart ever so that I long to say,
O Lord, keep me here at your cross!

Jesus, keep me near the cross,
There a precious fountain
Free to all, a healing stream
Flows from Calvarys mountain.
Refrain
In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.
Near the cross, a trembling soul,
Love and mercy found me;
There the bright and morning star
Sheds its beams around me.
Refrain
Near the cross! O Lamb of God,
Bring its scenes before me;
Help me walk from day to day,
With its shadows oer me.
Refrain
Near the cross Ill watch and wait
Hoping, trusting ever,
Till I reach the golden strand,
Just beyond the river.
Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
Rom 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, "The righteous shall live by faith."
Gal 6:14 But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
Gal 6:15 For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.
Father,
Thank you that the Grace of the Gospel is simple for our simple minds.
Thank you that you have justified us by faith in Jesus and His finished work.
Thank you that you have Regenerated us by your Holy Spirit.
Thank you that you continue to sanctify us until that day when the good work you have started in us is finished.
May we yield to your touch today like branches, to a breeze in your Vineyard....
I ask this in the Name of Jesus.
He Reigns.
Another great hymn about the Cross:
Beneath the cross of Jesus I fain would take my stand,
The shadow of a mighty rock within a weary land;
A home within the wilderness, a rest upon the way,
From the burning of the noontide heat, and the burden of the day.
O safe and happy shelter, O refuge tried and sweet,
O trysting place where Heavens love and Heavens justice meet!
As to the holy patriarch that wondrous dream was given,
So seems my Saviors cross to me, a ladder up to heaven.
There lies beneath its shadow but on the further side
The darkness of an awful grave that gapes both deep and wide
And there between us stands the cross two arms outstretched to save
A watchman set to guard the way from that eternal grave.
Upon that cross of Jesus mine eye at times can see
The very dying form of One Who suffered there for me;
And from my stricken heart with tears two wonders I confess;
The wonders of redeeming love and my unworthiness.
I take, O cross, thy shadow for my abiding place;
I ask no other sunshine than the sunshine of His face;
Content to let the world go by to know no gain or loss,
My sinful self my only shame, my glory all the cross.

Let everlasting glories crown
Thy head, my Savior and my Lord;
Thy hands have brought salvation down,
And writ the blessings in Thy Word.
What if we trace the globe around,
And search from Britain to Japan,
There shall be no religion found
So just to God, so safe for man.
In vain the trembling conscience seeks
Some solid ground to rest upon;
With long despair the spirit breaks,
Till we apply to Christ alone.
How well Thy blessèd truths agree!
How wise and holy Thy commands!
Thy promises, how firm they be!
How firm our hope and comfort stands.
Not the feigned fields of heathnish bliss
Could raise such pleasures in the mind;
Nor does the Turkish paradise
Pretend to joys so well refined.
Should all the forms that men devise
Assault my faith with treachrous art,
Id call them vanity and lies,
And bind the Gospel to my heart.

LORD, we thank you for Your call to Worship.
Your Holy Spirit and your Everlasting Word stir us to consider and rejoice in Your worthiness and Glory.
Deu 32:2 My doctrine shall drop as the rain; my speech shall drop down as the dew, as the small rain on the tender plant, and as the showers on the grass;
Deu 32:3 because I will proclaim the name of Jehovah and ascribe greatness to our God.
Deu 32:4 He is the Rock; His work is perfect. For all His ways are just, a God of faithfulness, and without evil; just and upright is He.

Psa 29:1 A Psalm of David. Give to Jehovah, sons of mighty ones; give to Jehovah glory and strength.
Psa 29:2 Give to Jehovah the glory of His name; worship Jehovah in the majesty of holiness.

Rev 4:11 Lord, You are worthy to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because You created all things, and through Your will they exist and were created.
.............
Rev 5:11 Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands,
Rev 5:12 saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!"
Rev 5:13 And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!"
Rev 5:14 And the four living creatures said, "Amen!" and the elders fell down and worshiped.

Glory to God on high,
Let praises fill the sky!
Praise ye His Name.
Angels His Name adore,
Who all our sorrows bore,
And saints cry evermore,
Worthy the Lamb!
All they around the throne
Cheerfully join in one,
Praising His Name.
We who have felt His blood,
Sealing our peace with God,
Spread His dear Name abroad
Worthy the Lamb!
To Him our hearts we raise
None else shall have our praise;
Praise ye His Name.
Him our exalted Lord,
By us below adored,
We praise with one accord
Worthy the Lamb!
If we should hold our peace,
Stones would cry out apace;
Praise ye His Name!
Love does our souls inspire,
With heavnly, pure desire,
And sets us all on fire
Worthy the Lamb!
Join all the human race,
Our Lord and God to bless;
Praise ye His Name!
In Him we will rejoice,
Making a cheerful noise,
And say with heart and voice,
Worthy the Lamb!
Though we must change our place,
Our souls shall never cease
Praising His Name;
To Him well tribute bring,
Laud Him, our gracious King,
And without ceasing sing,
Worthy the Lamb!
Amen to the ages of ages.

Our unity amazes me!
Let me walk, O Lord,
in the ways of Your peace,
in the paths of Your love,
where hope does not cease,
by the streams of Your mercy
where my soul finds release,
Let me walk, O Lord, with Thee.
Let me learn, O Lord,
To stand tall with You
Where my soul finds its solace,
touched by the True.
Transformed by Your light
into something brand new.
Let me learn, O Lord, from Thee.
Be my strength, O Lord,
when the day turns to night,
when the storm clouds gather,
obscuring my sight.
Let your cross be my guide
until faith is made sight.
All my strength, O Lord, comes from Thee.
Let me hunger, O Lord,
For the true Bread of Life,
That cuts through my emptiness
like the edge of a knife,
touching me, healing me,
ending my strife,
O Thou true Bread of Life, stay with me!

Because we are loving the Lord with all we have, and our neighbor as ourselves.
It makes a difference. And lets God's light shine!
THE LOVE OF GOD THE END OF LIFE.
SINCE life in sorrow must be spent,
So be itI am well content,
And meekly wait my last remove,
Seeking only growth in love.
No bliss I seek, but to fulfil
In life, in death, thy lovely will;
No succours in my woes I want,
Save what thou art pleased to grant.
Our days are numberd, let us spare
Our anxious hearts a needless care:
Tis thine to number out our days;
Ours to give them to thy praise.
Love is our only business here,
Love, simple, constant, and sincere;
O blessed days, thy servants see,
Spent, O Lord! in pleasing thee!
