The Prayer Room: Praying for America, FR, and all who need it
Various | 11/8/06 | Knitting a Conundrum

Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

Psalm 127:1
>

At this time, when feelings run high, the world seems crazy, and anger seems to be the one thing the peoples of the world have in common, I invite you, my fellow FReepers, to join me in prayers and meditation for guidance, God's help and for our fellow man, for America, our troops,  and all our own needs.

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

William Bradbury

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult.

Psalm 46: 1-3

Psalm 94:20-23 ~

Can wicked rulers be allied with thee, who frame mischief by statute?
They band together against the life of the righteous, and condemn the innocent to death.
But the LORD has become my stronghold, and my God the rock of my refuge.
He will bring back on them their iniquity and wipe them out for their wickedness;
The LORD our God will wipe them out.

Amen and Amen, O Lord. Already we hear the newly-elected Congressional leaders proclaim that they will not consider Judicial candidates who are opposed to abortion. They continue to band together against the life of the innocent. Thank You for Your Promise that You will wipe them out.

And yet may it be, Merciful Father, that their hearts will be turned, for You are not willing that any should perish. We pray for Revival to sweep across our beloved land, that we might once again turn to the God of Our Founding, with honor and reverence. Hold back the flood of evil that threatens to consume us, for the wicked one is furious upon the earth.

Rise up, O men of God!

Rise up, O men of God!
Have done with lesser things.
Give heart and mind and soul and strength
To serve the King of kings.

Rise up, O men of God!
The kingdom tarries long.
Bring in the day of brotherhood
And end the night of wrong.

Rise up, O men of God!
The church for you doth wait,
Her strength unequal to her task;
Rise up and make her great!

Lift high the cross of Christ!
Tread where His feet have trod.
As brothers of the Son of Man,
Rise up, O men of God!

Psa 91:4 He will cover you with His feathers; you will take refuge under His wings. His faithfulness will be a protective shield.

Oh Lord you are the Faithful One.
With lies they were elected and now they are faithless and seek to devour your people. Oh Lord, how long will the wicked prosper? Even now, make a way of escape for your people in this nation who are grieved to the heart at the evil that is planned. Fill those with your Spirit who hunger and thirst after righteousness. Help our thoughts to be fixed on you.
I can't help but be surprised at the greediness they show and the hunger they have for wickedness. Yet let me think of whatever is good and I will be satisfied when I think of You all day.

Phi 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.
Phi 4:5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand;
Phi 4:6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Phi 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Phi 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Let us be hidden in Jesus.
Amen.

"To be specific, the self-sins are self-righteousness, self-pity, self-confidence, self-sufficiency, self-admiration, self-love and a host of others like them. They dwell too deep within us and are too much a part of our natures to come to our attention till the light of God is focused upon them."
from Chapter 3, The Pursuit of God, A W Tozer

Oh Lord, as I draw near, I know that there is within me every kind of undesirable thing that wants to exalt itself against the knowledge of You. Please help me, sanctify me and bring me into your peace. Wash me with the water of your Word, and let me grow up into Christ, into the full stature of Him. Truly change me oh God of my life and let me live in your presence.

"Lord, how excellent are Thy ways, and how devious and dark are the ways of man. Show us how to die, that we may rise again to newness of life. Rend the veil of our self-life from the top down as Thou didst rend the veil of the Temple. We would draw near in full assurance of faith. We would dwell with Thee in daily experience here on this earth so that we may be accustomed to the glory when we enter Thy heaven to dwell with Thee there. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Lord, Let me go through this day remembering that this is is the day you gave me to spread your light to everyone I touch.

Help me especially to touch those lives of those who are near to me, of those I deal with who might irritate me, but on whose lives I have strong impact.

When I want to snub, or ignore, or leave, help me see with your eyes - a child of God, a person you came to save, a person that if I love you, I should also love.

O Lord, help me this day to do those things I need to do. Remind me to offer up those tasks I would rather escape from.

Most of all, help me to do what you would have me to do, in your way, and in your time.

Amen.

Amen !! Oh Lord Jesus, do this in me. May my life this day be glorifying to You and You alone. Fill me, Use me, I pray this day. I lift up my dear fellow freepers today. Those with hurts, needs pysical, emotional , spiritual. May we witness a mighty outpouring of Your Holy Spirit. Cleanse and heal our land. In the Precious Name of Jesus Christ,Amen.

This is a very powerful prayer thread and I cry everytime I read each post.

I have yet another prayer request. After the discovery of adultery, and the heavy drinking that accompanied this, he assaulted me two separate times. Normally, he is not like that. I filed reports and he received a notice to go to court which will be in less than two weeks. Now, I do not know if they will cover both of these incidents at the same hearing or if it will be separate. I hope it is at the same time.

He was beside himself when he got the notice over the weekend and vowed to stay away from all of us for awhile. In a 24 hour period, he must've had a change of heart because he has been here twice, is pleasant toward me, and is coming over tomorrow night as well.

Please pray that things do not go so badly in court because he is not this type of person. I am of the belief that when you get involved with sin such as this, things begin to happen in your life that are not good.

I pray that God has been lifting the blinders from his eyes little by little.

Thank you so much.

Into your hands, O Lord, who instituted marriage to be a good thing, we commend this husband, his wife and children. Bring the healing that will allow only good to follow, wash them clean from whatever darkness is touching them, and allow them to grow in love and service to you.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

midday prayer ping!

Jesus said to his disciples:
“What is your opinion? If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray, will he not leave the ninety-nine in the hills and go in search of the stray? And if he finds it, amen, I say to you, he rejoices more over it than over the ninety-nine that did not stray. In just the same way, it is not the will of your heavenly Father that one of these little ones be lost.” Matthew 18:12-14

There are moments that I am amazed
at the strong hands unsought
that lift me up out of the morass
I find myself,
out of the dark crevass
where I am wedged,
lost and confused.
Can I speak
of the gratitude within my heart
for the touch of my shepherd
when the valley seems so dark,
the shadow of death
seems so near,
and dawn seems forever away?
Yours are the waters
that purify me,
that sooth my soul,
Yours is the bread of life,
the green pastures
that restore me,
that transform me,
that shape me
after your will.
Yours is the staff that defends me,
and in your shadow,
under your watchful eye,
I am safe,
even as the enemy would devour me.
Yours the goodness and mercy
that rescues me,
that calls me,
that saves me.
Let me dwell in your house,
walk in your ways,
rest myself safe in your loving arms,
This day, and always.
Amen.

Prayer needs ping!

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1738808/posts?page=120#120

I just received this e-mail from my sister-in-law......

Prayers are needed for a friend and co worker of Gretchen. His name is Chris and he is dying. Chris is 37, his wife is Sherry and they have 2 children, ages 4 and 8.

Long story short, he thought he was a healthy young man until a few weeks ago when he started having some stomach issues and was losing weight. Blood tests showed diabetes. Friday night he was stopped by the police for what they thought was drunk driving. He wasn't drunk but was very disoriented and the police called an ambulance. Test showed that he had lots of tumors in the area of his stomach and he was admitted to the hospital.

Saturday night he started ripping out his IVs, told his wife that he didn't know her and was getting out of there to get a soda. They had to restrain him to his bed, did more tests and found a tumor on his brain. They put him in ICU

Monday finds him in a coma. Tests came back conclusive that he has an aggressive cancer (Gretchen didn't know what kind) and there is nothing they can do for him. The doctors have talked to Sherry about putting him on life support.

Not only do the family need prayers but Gretchen needs them as well. She is close to Chris as they have worked together for a number of years. The hard part for Gretchen is that this reminds her too much of her moms death and how the children just don't understand what is going on. She sobs every time we talk and I am doing the best I can to comfort her.

Thanks. Kim

I love your homepage.

Yes, I would appreciate some prayer, thank you.

My father and sister are cancer survivors, I would like prayer for continued good health for them. Also, I have been having fertility issues for quite some time and have had two miscarriages. I ask for prayer that the Lord would grant me some healthy pregnancies.

Thanks so much for the prayer!!!
J.

Thank you Father for your Word, which we trust.

Dan 7:9 "As I kept watching, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was white like snow, and the hair of His head like whitest wool. His throne was flaming fire; its wheels were blazing fire.
Dan 7:10 A river of fire was flowing, coming out from His presence. Thousands upon thousands served Him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was convened, and the books were opened.
Dan 7:11 "I watched, then, because of the sound of the arrogant words the horn was speaking. As I continued watching, the beast was killed and its body destroyed and given over to the burning fire.
Dan 7:12 As for the rest of the beasts, their authority to rule was removed, but an extension of life was granted to them for a certain period of time.
Dan 7:13 I continued watching in the night visions, and I saw One like a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was escorted before Him.
Dan 7:14 He was given authority to rule, and glory, and a kingdom; so that those of every people, nation, and language should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will not be destroyed.

Near to the Heart of God

There is a place of quiet rest,
Near to the heart of God.
A place where sin cannot molest,
Near to the heart of God.

Refrain:
O Jesus, blest Redeemer,
Sent from the heart of God,
Hold us who wait before Thee
Near to the heart of God.

There is a place of comfort sweet,
Near to the heart of God.
A place where we our Savior meet,
Near to the heart of God.

Refrain

There is a place of full release,
Near to the heart of God.
A place where all is joy and peace,
Near to the heart of God.
