midday prayer ping!

Jesus said to his disciples:
“What is your opinion? If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray, will he not leave the ninety-nine in the hills and go in search of the stray? And if he finds it, amen, I say to you, he rejoices more over it than over the ninety-nine that did not stray. In just the same way, it is not the will of your heavenly Father that one of these little ones be lost.” Matthew 18:12-14

There are moments that I am amazed
at the strong hands unsought
that lift me up out of the morass
I find myself,
out of the dark crevass
where I am wedged,
lost and confused.
Can I speak
of the gratitude within my heart
for the touch of my shepherd
when the valley seems so dark,
the shadow of death
seems so near,
and dawn seems forever away?
Yours are the waters
that purify me,
that sooth my soul,
Yours is the bread of life,
the green pastures
that restore me,
that transform me,
that shape me
after your will.
Yours is the staff that defends me,
and in your shadow,
under your watchful eye,
I am safe,
even as the enemy would devour me.
Yours the goodness and mercy
that rescues me,
that calls me,
that saves me.
Let me dwell in your house,
walk in your ways,
rest myself safe in your loving arms,
This day, and always.
Amen.

Prayer needs ping!

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1738808/posts?page=120#120

I just received this e-mail from my sister-in-law......

Prayers are needed for a friend and co worker of Gretchen. His name is Chris and he is dying. Chris is 37, his wife is Sherry and they have 2 children, ages 4 and 8.

Long story short, he thought he was a healthy young man until a few weeks ago when he started having some stomach issues and was losing weight. Blood tests showed diabetes. Friday night he was stopped by the police for what they thought was drunk driving. He wasn't drunk but was very disoriented and the police called an ambulance. Test showed that he had lots of tumors in the area of his stomach and he was admitted to the hospital.

Saturday night he started ripping out his IVs, told his wife that he didn't know her and was getting out of there to get a soda. They had to restrain him to his bed, did more tests and found a tumor on his brain. They put him in ICU

Monday finds him in a coma. Tests came back conclusive that he has an aggressive cancer (Gretchen didn't know what kind) and there is nothing they can do for him. The doctors have talked to Sherry about putting him on life support.

Not only do the family need prayers but Gretchen needs them as well. She is close to Chris as they have worked together for a number of years. The hard part for Gretchen is that this reminds her too much of her moms death and how the children just don't understand what is going on. She sobs every time we talk and I am doing the best I can to comfort her.

Thanks. Kim
