The Prayer Room: Praying for America, FR, and all who need it
Various | 11/8/06 | Knitting a Conundrum

Posted on 11/09/2006 6:49:58 PM PST by Knitting A Conundrum

Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

Psalm 127:1
>

At this time, when feelings run high, the world seems crazy, and anger seems to be the one thing the peoples of the world have in common, I invite you, my fellow FReepers, to join me in prayers and meditation for guidance, God's help and for our fellow man, for America, our troops,  and all our own needs.

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

William Bradbury

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult.

Psalm 46: 1-3

Heartfelt Amens!

"Help, God—the bottom has fallen out of my life;
Master, hear my cry for help.
Listen hard; Open your ears;
Listen to my cries for mercy.

If you, God, kept records on wrongdoings,
Who would stand a chance?
As it turns out, forgiveness is your habit,
And that's why you're worshiped.

I pray to God—my life a prayer—
And wait for what he'll say and do.
My life's on the line before God, my Lord,
Waiting and watching till morning,
Waiting and watching till morning.

O Israel, wait and watch for God—
With God's arrival comes love,
With God's arrival comes generous redemption.
No doubt about it—he'll redeem Israel,
Buy back Israel from captivity to sin." (Ps.130)

All our Hopes are with You, our Good and Gracious King. How Very Blessed we are, Your Highness; how Loved we are, All through Your Excellent Grace. We will Never Forget the Day You Came to us, and Spoke to us those Blessed Words, "Live!" You Raised us from the Dead; we are the Army of the King. Send us Forth, my Lord, to Sing Your Praise; Enable us to Glorify Thy Name. Be Pleased, Your Grace, to Grant us the Character of Thy Son. Help us, our Father; we Want to Live to Thy Praise.

Bless Your Children, O Shepherd, and Hear our Earnest Cries. For the Glory of the King, we Pray All Things, amen.

O Lord, on the days when the darkness seems so deep
When I feel the splinters from the wood of my own cross,
Sometimes I get a flash of insight, a sudden leap
Of that suffering, of that pain, of that loss --

Separated from the pretty pictures of my books,
The smell of death hanging in the air, the jeers, the flies,
The weeping women, the soldiers' learing looks,
The eyes of your Mother as she cries --

Real moments fraught with blood and grief and pain --
From this you wrought the answer to Adam's sin,
How we want to pretty it up, build walls, contain
The reality of God touching us, lock it in.

Clever as we are at building the boxes to hide that fire,
The burning love of creator for creation stained,
You find ways to bring home that truth, inspire -
Yours is a love that will not stay contained.

Open my heart, O Lord, and let me see today
The reality of a God who burns away the night
Holding nothing back to open up the way
To lead his bride at last into the light.

Holy Father,

Our nation has great needs that only You can meet. We desperately need a man of God---a man after Your own heart---to be our candidate for President in 2008 and to win the election. Father, we acknowledge that You are the Source of everything we need. Surely You search the nation and know the heart of the one You would choose. Help us to make Your choice our choice, Lord, that we may have a leader who is unashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Incline his heart to Your testimonies and give him a relentless desire for Your wisdom and discernment in all things. May Your people unite behind Your choice, Father, and vote him into office. And may You forgive our nation of it's many sins, for we have placed many gods before You. Help us to return to You, Lord, for You are our only hope, and our need for You has never been greater. Make haste to help us, O Lord. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Prayers offered up for those affected by inclement weather conditions in the Northeast, esp. New York State and upper PA with the heavy snowfall, and those suffering from water main breaks (and loss of water) due to the cold weather.

I will sing my Maker’s praises and in Him most joyful be,
For in all things I see traces of His tender love to me.
Nothing else than love could move Him with such sweet and tender care
Evermore to raise and bear all who try to serve and love Him.
All things else have but their day, God’s great love abides for aye.

Yea, so dear did He esteem me that His Son he loved so well
He hath given to redeem me from the quenchless flames of hell.
O Thou Spring of boundless blessing, how could e’er my feeble mind
Of Thy depth the bottom find though my efforts were unceasing?
All things else have but their day, God’s great love abides for aye.

All that for my soul is needful He with loving care provides,
Nor of that is He unheedful which my body needs besides.
When my strength cannot avail me, when my powers can do no more,
Doth my God His strength outpour; in my need He doth not fail me.
All things else have but their day, God’s great love abides for aye.

When I sleep, He still is near me, o’er me rests His guardian eye;
And new gifts and blessings cheer me when the morning streaks the sky.
Were it not for God’s protection, had His countenance not been
Here my guide, I had not seen e’er the end of my affliction.
All things else have but their day, God’s great love abides for aye.

As a father never turneth wholly from a wayward child,
For the prodigal still yearneth, longing to be reconciled,
So my many sins and errors find a tender, pardoning God,
Chastening frailty with His rod, not, in vengeance, with His terrors.
All things else have but their day, God’s great love abides for aye.

Since, then, neither change nor coldness, in my Father’s love can be,
Lo! I lift my hands with boldness, as Thy child I come to Thee.
Grant me grace, O God, I pray Thee, that I may with all my might,
All my lifetime, day and night, love and trust Thee and obey Thee
And, when this brief life is o’er, praise and love Thee evermore.
--Paul Gerhardt, 1659

Oh LORD of Redemption, thank you for another day in which to Praise and Glorify you.
I ask a Blessing for my Brothers and Sisters at FR.
I ask that you would hear us as we ask that you bring a mighty Holy Spirit born Repentance to our hearts.
Turn us again Oh Lord.
I will think about You.
I will remember your Mighty works which are more than can be numbered.
Take a coal from the altar and cleanse our lips so that we may bring forth only sweet water, only Truth and Blessing.
We trust in you.
You have begun a Good Work in us, and we know you will finish it.
In the Name of Jesus we ask.

Amen, and Amen, in His Holy Name.

Now Unto Him that is Able to Keep you from Falling, and to Present you Faultless Before the Presence of His Glory with Exceeding Joy,

To the Only Wise God our Saviour, be Glory and Majesty, Dominion and Power, Both Now and Ever. Amen. (Jude)

Paul prayed for them and for us....

Eph 3:14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,
Eph 3:15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,
Eph 3:16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being,
Eph 3:17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith--that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
Eph 3:18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
Eph 3:19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Eph 3:20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,
Eph 3:21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

That we might have Faith in that Love of God through Jesus Christ for us....

Rom 8:31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Rom 8:32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?
Rom 8:33 Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies.
Rom 8:34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died--more than that, who was raised--who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.
Rom 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?
Rom 8:36 As it is written, "For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered."
Rom 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Rom 8:38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,
Rom 8:39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Oh Lord I ask that we would fully perceive the Great Love you have for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
This will bring us to the foot of the Cross in humility and the Foot of the Throne in adoration.
Let us not neglect Remembering first things and our First Love.
We stand on that Solid Rock.
In Jesus Name I ask this.

http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/l/o/loveofgo.htm

The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.

Refrain

O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
The saints’ and angels’ song.

When years of time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men, who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam’s race—
The saints’ and angels’ song.

Refrain

Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade,
To write the love of God above,
Would drain the ocean dry.
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

In hac fide, in hac spe, in hac caritáte:

In this faith, a faith whose seeds you planted in my heart, O loving Lord,
let me take my stand forever,
let it shape my life, day by day, in darkness or light,
until at last I stand where that faith is sight,
stripped of all my night.

In this hope, a hope you breathe into hot fire by the touch of your Spirit, O Lord,
let me take my comfort forever,
let it breathe your peace into my steps, day by day, in darkness or light,
until at last I stand, where my hope is proved real,
pure joy in your sight.

In this love, a love you offered by your death, hard and hot, O Lord of my life,
let me take my shelter forever,
let me, so well loved, share that love, day by day, in darkness or light
Until at last I stand, where my love is fulfilled,
dressed in your wedding robe of sparkling white.

In hac fide, in hac spe, in hac caritáte, vívere et mori státuo! Amen.

(note: In hac fide, in hac spe, in hac caritate, vivere et mori statuo means in this faith, in this hope in this love, I intend to live and die)
