The Prayer Room: Praying for America, FR, and all who need it
Various | 11/8/06 | Knitting a Conundrum

Posted on 11/09/2006 6:49:58 PM PST by Knitting A Conundrum

Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

Psalm 127:1
>

At this time, when feelings run high, the world seems crazy, and anger seems to be the one thing the peoples of the world have in common, I invite you, my fellow FReepers, to join me in prayers and meditation for guidance, God's help and for our fellow man, for America, our troops,  and all our own needs.

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

William Bradbury

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult.

Psalm 46: 1-3

Please don't be alarmed if you see a candle in the candle room with "KAC" on it, asking for prayers for your aunt with burns - I misread my first ping and thought HeartofGA's prayer request that you sent to me was for your own aunt. I've corrected it with a new candle for HofGA, but I can't delete an entire candle - it has to burn down for 48 hours. So sorry I rushed off to light it without completely reading!

She gets extra prayers that way! LOL!

Today has been long and crazy, in a good way.

A prayer of thanks for today:

Emmanuel

You who understand the pain of a skinned knee,
the joy of a wedding,
the aching emptiness of bereavement,
the grief we cause those we love,
the pleasure of friendship,
the sadness of being misunderstood,
the taste of dust,
the aching of fatigue,
thank you for having mercy on us,
accepting our blows,
carrying our sins,
teaching us the transforming fire
of a loving God.

Amen.

Thank you for understanding and thank you for the beautiful verse!

Crazy day for me, too. I have been so upset for the astronaut Nowak and what she has done and I can't quite calm down, even after a good sleep on it. Prayers for her innocent family.

Agreed on that...I've been watching the news, and that's such a horrid thing...Makes you wonder, and know how much the world needs our prayers.

O my Jesus,
remember the hands raised against you in anger
as you stood there accused before the high priest,
and remember all of us here
hate-filled and angry,
victims of of that same hate.
Have mercy on us, O Lord.

O my Jesus,
remember the hardness of injustice
when unjustly accused,
you stood before those who wished you dead,
and remember those of us here,
those accused unfairly,
those who do wrong and call it justice.
Have mercy on us, O Lord.

O my Jesus,
remember the tears of those who wept,
seeing you so injured,
forced to march to the place of your death,
and remember those of us here,
weeping over our lost ones,
weeping over those we cannot help,
weeping over the victims of all this evil.
Have mercy on us, O Lord.

O my Jesus,
remember the looks of the bored guards,
who doing what they were instructed to do,
had no idea of the immensity of their actions.
Remember those of us here,
who think we are just doing our jobs,
allowing wrongs to be committed
and evil to flourish.
Have mercy on us, O Lord.

O my Jesus,
remember the eyes of your Mother as you neared death,
she who shared your birth,
she who shared your death with such pain and grief,
and remember the breaking hearts of mothers everywhere,
who see the grief in their children's lives,
who mourn their beloved, dead, injured, lost, without hope.
Have mercy on us, O Lord.

O my Jesus,
remember the gathering darkness as you sank down into death,
your life given because of the wickedness of man,
and remember all of us who will die this day
because of sin,
theirs or another,
in pain and fear and anguish,
entering into life's final darkness.
Have mercy on us, O Lord.

Lord, you who worked so hard to show us the way, to bring us into light, remember us, and kindle into the hearts of all who will open to you the flame of your mercy, so that we, doing your work, may spread your mercy across this dark and troubled world, this day, and always.
Amen.

I will Praise the LORD for his ever present help this morning.

I recall, and hope to never forget, again, that our trials are of a LIMITED duration(no matter how long), which He controls and designs for our good and His Glory.

I thank Him for showing us the water heater was about to blow before it did, so we could do what we needed to do at 3:30 AM.

Relief was rapid and we can see he prepared us for this yesterday.

While this is a small, but annoying thing, nevertheless, in all things I give Him thanks.
The LORD is good to us all day long and in the night too.

Somebody shout Hallelujah for the Love of our Good Shepherd!

Joh 16:7 Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
Joh 16:8 And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment:
Joh 16:9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in me;
Joh 16:10 concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer;
Joh 16:11 concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
Joh 16:12 "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
Joh 16:13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
Joh 16:14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
Joh 16:15 All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

Spirit of mercy, truth and love,
O shed Thine influence from above,
And still from age to age convey
The wonders of this sacred day.

In every clime, by every tongue,
Be God’s amazing glory sung;
Let all the listening earth be taught
The wonders by our Savior wrought.

Unfailing Comfort, heavenly Guide,
Still o’er Thy holy Church preside;
Still let mankind Thy blessings prove,
Spirit of mercy, truth and love.
--Words: London Foundling Hospital Collection, 1774.

Oh LORD,
We must have your Light and Truth.
We can not walk one step without it.
Let this Holy Spirit Light shine within us so that we may seek cleansing and forgiveness and strength to obey and please you.
May we Know and speak and hear the Truth and be nourished by it.

Rom 10:17 So then fayth cometh by hearynge and hearynge cometh by the worde of God.

I Shout Hallelujah to His Name!

My Soul was Very Blessed this Day to Read More Verses from Madame de la Mothe Guion, who Made Such an Impression Upon our Brother William Cowper that he Translated her French Poems into the English Language for us. It is Glorious, All the Manifold Ways our Christ Works through His Body Upon Earth to Bless His Saints!

She Wrote these Verses while Imprisoned in the Bastille for her Faith in our Savior-King:

...Nor exile I nor prison fear;
Love makes my courage great;
I find a Saviour every where,
His grace in every state.

Nor castle walls, nor dungeons deep,
Exclude his quickening beams;
There I can sit, and sing, and weep,
And dwell on heavenly themes.

There sorrow, for his sake, is found
A joy beyond compare;
There no presumptuous thoughts abound,
No pride can enter there.

A Saviour doubles all my joys,
And sweetens all my pains,
His strength in my defence employs,
Consoles me and sustains.

Thank You, our Holy One, for Your Every Quickening Grace. Our Life, our Master, our Lord, how we Love to Exalt Thy Sweet Name. You are our Joy and our Strength, our Health and our Peace, the Light that Leads us to our Home. For Your Glory we Live, to Your Praise we Sing; You are our Never-Failing, Faithful God. We Love You, we Worship You, and our Eyes are Upon the Eastern Skies. Come and Take us to be with Thee, our Loving Lord. In our Jesus' Name, be Adored and Loved Forever, amen.

Gal 5:16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
.........
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Gal 5:23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Gal 5:25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
........
Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
Rom 8:3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,
Rom 8:4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Rom 8:5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
Rom 8:6 To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
..........
Joh 15:1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.
.......
Joh 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.
Joh 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

LORD, apart from you we walk by the flesh.
We lose our Peace if this happens because our Peace is a fruit of the Holy Spirit Life in us and a clear conscience toward you.
Help us to be willing to let your will be done and not ours.
Help us to walk by the Spirit today and always and bear much Fruit.
I know I can not do this on my own.
Please do it in me and in all whose hearts belong to you.

Joh 15:8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.

Too many, Lord, abuse Thy grace,
In this licentious day;
And while they boast they see Thy face,
They turn their own away.

Thy Book displays a gracious light
That can the blind restore;
But these are dazzled by the sight,
And blinded still the more.

The pardon, such presume upon,
They do not beg, but steal;
And when they plead it at Thy throne,
Oh! where’s the Spirit’s seal?

Was it for this, ye lawless tribe,
The dear Redeemer bled?
Is this the grace the saints imbibe
From Christ the living Head?

Ah, Lord, we know Thy chosen few
Are fed with heavenly fare;
But these, the wretched husks they chew
Proclaim them what they are.

The liberty our hearts implore
Is not to live in sin;
But still to wait at wisdom’s door,
Till mercy calls us in.
--William Cowper

Some crosses come of rough hewn wood,
Heavy the weight across the shoulders,
Rough the ropes that bind the arms
As the Son of man, marches in procession,
There to give His all for the likes of me.

Some crosses come in the barked orders of a cruel commander,
Selecting victims to die for retribution,
There one man shoulders his cross,
Replacing another to go down into that darkness,
Praising God each day, until, impatient,
They inject him with poison to speed him off to his Master.

Some crosses come in the shape of a long slow disease,
Stealing strength, freedom of movement,
And at last the ability to speak
From a loving man who spoke word after word,
Bearing his burden, in pain and patience
Day by day,
While the world watched, sometimes snickering,
Until at last, when it was time,
He returned home with a final amen.

Some crosses are simple, but hard to shoulder:
Smiling at the troubled spouse,
Being kind to a tired shop clerk,
Reaching out to someone who frustrates and hurts,
Walking a sick baby,
Caring.

Help me, O Lord,
To carry the crosses you send me
With fortitude and love,
Whether in great things or little,
For love of You,
Because You ask it,
And always, through Your help,
This day, and always,
Amen.
