Will Nifong go after bloggers?
November 8, 2006

Posted on 11/08/2006 2:41:16 PM PST by CondorFlight

Now that the election is over and this can't be considered just an election ploy :

Rumors are said to have been circulating in Durham to the effect that Nifong might consider (legally) going after a couple of bloggers; that if he deals with a couple of them the rest will be intimidated and fade away.

This is just a heads up; so that if anything untoward happens, everyone will know about it in advance and be able to make the connection. The rumors are well-sourced.

People who work in such places are disposable.

I'm afraid Yolanda is going to meet with an accident if her name shows up on a witness list prior to trial, if we get that far. At the very least, she will be arrested and incarcerated at the time of trial.

I don't think she will recant until she is actually confronted with the reality of having to testify. Mangum and her ilk live in the moment and don't concern themselves with tomorrow until tomorrow becomes today, when it's usually too late to change course. Great pressure will be brought upon her to testify, and she will run away if she has custody of her kids, and succumb to the pressure if she doesn't. There is no entity with a political interest or any other kind of interest in seeing the case be dropped that has access to her. I think Liefong is holding her captive legally by having the children's services take her kids away from her and she has to go through Liefong to see them. That is his hammer over her, and she is the kind of person who is easily controlled by such manipulations. Pimps exercise psychological control over their "stable" this way, and in this sense Liefong has replaced her pimp with himself.

I'm thinking that he can be disbarred for starters.

This isn't just about town-gown conflicts. The racial issue is a much larger component. If her daughter were to be raped and beaten by a black citizen or NCCU student, there would be no justice for her. I wouldn't send my kid anywhere near that place with people like Liefong in charge of justice in that jurisdiction.

I doubt that the San Diego case is being swept under the rug by the police or the DA. The media? Yes, likely, but not LE.

I am underwhelmed.

Such faculty members should have spoken out when it would have mattered - six months ago, before it became evident that this was a racial hanging in the making and that Mangum is a liar.

The time to demonstrate character and bravery is when the adversity against your position is at its strongest, not later when the horde has subsided.

I don't think that's the case.

What's interesting to note is that Liefong inserted himself into the case on 3/24, and she never went back to the club after that.

I agree.

I think his decision will hinge on whether the case is moved out of Durham and, if so, to what jurisdiction. If he thinks he has a good shot at a race-based guilty verdict, he'll go all the way. If he doesn't, he may back Mangum down. Liefong has full manipulative ability over her because of her kids. She is his puppet. Then, he may NOT back Mangum down if the case gets moved to a rational jurisdiction because he can always blame it on white jury nullification and then tell his black constituency he is referring the matter to the Justice Dept..

Liefong is on a jihad. He knows if he keeps persecuting wealthy whites, especially those attending Duke, his re-election is guaranteed in perpetuity. He has done nothing to give me to believe he intends to stop with this case.

I doubt she cares as much about the children as she does the child support check.

From an anonymous poster at Durham Wonderland on Monks donors:

John & Anne McMahon
Durham

JOB TITLE: Unknown
9/25 $2,500.00
9/27 $2,500.00

Is that the John McMahon who used to head the Duke Board of Trustees?

"Durham residents Anne and John McMahon, each gave $2,500 to Monks in September. She is a retired health care consultant, and he is former chairman of the Duke Board of Trustees and former president of the American Hospital Association."

So Duke shuts down a student voter registration drive outside the stadium during homecoming, while allowing Monks campaign workers to pass out literature inside the stadium. And the past president of the Duke BOT donates $5,000 to Monks. The adults at Duke certainly did their part for Nifong's Little Helper.

Those things all happened. Coincidence or conspiracy?

Maybe someone will buy it and show the whole thing on TV, including the lap dance. Alert the media! That would make my day.

Vandals wreck bus shelters
A Durham official speculates that the structures' parts are being sold as scrap

Eric Ferreri, Staff Writer, N&O, Nov 11, 2006 12:30 AM

DURHAM - The dismantling of one city bus shelter and damage to at least two others has transportation planners stumped and frustrated.

Roofing from one shelter on Meriweather Drive was stolen Wednesday, and other large panels were found in the middle of the street, an unlikely feat given that the shelters are made of steel and held together with rivets.

"This is going on all across the city, and we just don't have any handle on how they're being vandalized," said Pierre Owusu, a city transportation planner. "You'd need tools and at least two to three people."

* This town is becoming a third-world disaster area. Thank you, Mayor Bell.

Cole-McFadden, a retired city employee who has focused much of her civic

Holderness, who helped found Urban Ministries and Phoenix House (now Housing for New Hope) was pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church from 1974-2006.
