He's toasty. Mr. George Felix Macacawitz needs to slink embarassingly into the night, having personally blown what should have been one of the safest Senate seats in the country.

I think absentee ballots are part of it.

You know, it's really striking, the difference between FR after a loss, and DU. They would be screaming that Rove stole the election and scam people by asking for money to prevent him from being sworn in. LOL.

1) No one seems to know how many absentee ballots were cast and/or if they have been counted.
2) There are 2000 "provisional" ballots where the voters must be confirmed as legal/eligible voters before they can be added to the tally.
3) A recount may be requested by Allen.

There isn't any vote count to challenge yet.
The official results aren't in.
He can't decide one way or the other until then.
It'll be a couple or three weeks.

Because he is a Rep with 1 ball. All the others have 0 balls and will ROLL over and play DEAD even before an election.
Thanks a LOTT reps!

He is waiting for a verification of the vote totals (a "canvass") and for all the absentees/military ballots to come in and get counted. That will tell him how screwed he is and if it's worth pushing it.
He's 7400 votes down, .31% out of 2,367,032. That's within the trigger of a recount. So he's really got nothing to lose by hanging tough. As I said on another thread, I'd expect Webb to do the same thing in the same situation and wouldn't begrudge it one bit. Webb can push on with his "transition team" because, let's face it, he's probably the winner. But Allen's sticking with things is reasonable given how close the votes are.

It depends on whether he's going to look into FRAUD. The DemoncRAT machine is efficient - you know there are at least 10K fraudulent + dead voter + ACORN ballots in the mix ... if he's willing to expose it.
To: zbigreddogz
I hear they were using butterfly ballots in a couple of the precincts. That may explain it.

Have they already counted the absentee ballots? I assume the early votes were already tallied with thier precincts.

If Drudge last night and Gillespie this morning are both right about transposed figures picked up by the media (one says 4,000 votes, the other something like 1300 votes were affected) from the Virginia SOS office, then it wouldn't be terribly optimistic of Allen to presume that there might be similar transpositions, other *honest* mistakes. And if absentees--at least a good percentage of them--haven't been tallied either, why not give it a shot?

Asidee from what everyone else has said, Ed Gillespie reported that an error in Allen's favor of ~1,500 votes had already been reported.

My understanding, based on an interview I heard this morning on Dennis Prager's radio show, is that there are approximately 22,000 mail-in votes yet to be counted.
