George Allen in 2008?
FreeRepublic ^ | November 7, 2006 | NapkinUser

Does (almost certainly) losing the Virginia senate election give George Allen more time to campaign for 2008, like Romney and Frist both stepping down does?

Are you serious????? Who the hell wants a presidential that can't even carry his own state in an election. Sen. Allen's political is finished whether he wins or loses and at this point it look he loses.

Heck, why not just go with Ney/Foley?

I think it will be between Romney and Rudy.

Gingrich is every bit as viable as a Presidential/Vice-Presidential candidate as Katherine Harris was as a Florida Senatorial candidate.

Maybe, but at least Newt brings some substance to the debate. He may not make it past the few first primaries.

Gingrich/Romney is a sure win.

BTW, I've been noticing you're definitely a rational, rather than emotional thing around FR tonight, and, I just wanted to thank you (esp. since I'm the opposite).

I would certainly like to see Newt with a Cabinet position in a future Republican administration, but he will never be POTUS.

Absolutely not! He never had anything to commend him as a candidate for president. He was not even as articulate as Dubya. He lost Virginia by his bumbling. He would not even win the primary for president. There is only one Republican out there that has everything it takes to win the presidency...Mitt Romney.

Sorry, umm, but what would Allen bring? Half of Virginia?

Find another person to support for 2008.

No, Romney is also dead because of several "Massachusetts problems" connected to him as well as other problems. Look at what I have to say about Mitt Romney on the Massachusetts page for all of the info. The Devil is in the details!

Allen is done. I guess I can ask Corin to take me off the ping list now.

Santorum - maybe since PA is a red state but ...

Allen? Gee, if only he could win comfortably he'd be in the running, but he was macaca'd to death by the MSM.
And VA is supposed to be a red state.

If you have a leg to stand on, challenge it.

If not, dont.

Hmmm. I disagree. See my tag, and I'm getting people there who are Gingrich for Pres fans. Feel free to join if you have a LJ acct.

Gingrich has too much baggage. I wouldn't want to see him on a repbublican ticket, the media would make mincemeat of him. He was good at getting the job done, but his personal life was an issue when the republicans impeached clinton.

You've got to be kidding. George Allen's political career is pretty much over if he doesn't win this election. And it doesn't look like he's going to.

2. Romney.

I see almost no possibility Gingrich ever gets national office either. It's time he lets it go.

Earlier, it was looking like it might be okay to go ahead with it. At this point, he's far enough behind that I think it's unlikely he's gonna find enough votes anywhere. Even after the rest of the ballots are counted.
