Are we allowed to say it now? Can we drop the happy warrior schtick? In the past six years, we've seen the deficit explode like never before in the history of the country. A flaming bra-burner nominated to the Supreme Court, only to be replaced by a (hopefully) stealth conservative. The most inept State Department in the history of the United States. (Clinton's wasn't incompetent; they were flat-out fifth columnists.) 20 million new illegal aliens, and barely-contained glee that the election-day losses mean we can welcome another 50 million in.
And I hate to say this, but when we won the war in Iraq, I was praying for my friend who was an MP, fearing for his safety in the dangerous house-to-house searches. And then they never came. So I put joyful trust that the military didn't need to do such a dangerous task. Then came the insurgency. And bold optimism. And more violence. And more bold optimism. But, um, after 3,000 of America's finest dead, it becomes plainly apparent that Rummy and Bush simply didn't realize that disarming the terrorists was necessary.
So can we say it now?
That Bush is the most incompetent Republican ever?
He hasn't earned a single thing in his life. He's a New England pseudo-conservative and was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.
We can say you're an ass. You're an ass.
You evaded my question:
What have YOU done with your life if you're so smart?
Let's get a perpective!
1) We have been mucking around in Iraq longer than it took us to win WWII. The politically correct approach to winning a war will not work. I can sum up the Iraq war - Muqtada al-Sadr! The fact that he is still alive and his Mahdi Army is roaming the streets speaks to the policy failure in Iraq. Bad guys need to be killed, not counseled. Our military has been brilliant and displaced the Saddam regime, but we have not won the war. Iran and Syria openly supply and support the insurgents and we have done nothing to make those two regimes accountable for American deaths.
2) Spending and government growth are way out of control. So we got a token tax cut. If a small one was good, a big one would have been better. Tax cuts were limited by the uncontrolled spending. If government growth and spending would have been properly managed even larger tax cuts would have been possible. I for one and not going to be thankful that the government is only taking 50% of my income.
3) Our country and certain western states have been invaded and colonized by Mexico and the president has turned a deaf ear to it in hopes of getting the (illegal?) Hispanic vote. Illegal immigration alone is enough reason to have fired anyone/everyone! The western states are bankrupt, health care has collapsed, law enforcement is under siege, and security is a nightmare!
4) Polls over principle governing. The party has consistently worked against strong conservatives in the interest of RINO's and "moderates". Can anyone explain the insane support of Arlen Spectre and a host of conservatives that the GOP leadership has crapped on.
This election was not a rejection of conservative principles, it was firing an incompetent work force.
It's impossible to prevent terrorist acts while retaining our liberties. There are countless vulnerabilities and there always will be, no matter what we do. The fact that there hasn't been an attack since 9/11 isn't because of Bush; it's because the terrorists haven't tried. If they had another good strategy like on 9/11, they could easily carry it off. Any of us can think of any number of ways to kill en mass and create an atmosphere terror. Trying to close off the border or harassing people at airports is dumb; it only creates the appearance of "security." The only possibilities are having secret police everywhere, like in Israel, except it would be much more difficult given the size of our country, or living with a slight risk, one of many. And in fact, only people in a few cities (including myself) are at any actual risk. Most Americans who complain that they are afraid of terrorism have never seen and are in absolutely no danger of it.
We are dependent on cheap labor. There is no going back.
Dangus has a point.
Before you moved out of Houston, you were in far more danger of getting stabbed by a mugger or even struck by lightning. But people focus their dread on equally unpreventable but less likely 'terror' attacks.
I'm not saying that terror isn't real. I was a few blocks away from the World Trade Center on Sept. 11. It just annoys me when someone from Council Bluffs, Iowa, or wherever says that terrorism is the No. 1 danger in our country.
LOL...living in exile mean you're behind bars??????????
Both of which Pelosi, Rangel, Kennedy, Byrd, Hillary and all their funfunfun friends are just champing at the proverbial bit to step up and fix for you, by golly, by jingo.
Maybe we should leave FR to the trolls for a couple of hours till they get it all out of their system.
Gotta be that Herbert Hoover was the worst president!! LOL
Probably a great suggestion.
Seems like a lot of chest beating going on.
President Bush isn't the problem. He has done a good job. He has given us a robust economy, tax cuts, safety from terrorist attacks for 5 years and 2 conservative justices. That didn't just happen by itself.
Yes, but a lot more of them are going to die in muggings.
