Are we allowed to say it now?

Are we allowed to say it now? Can we drop the happy warrior schtick? In the past six years, we've seen the deficit explode like never before in the history of the country. A flaming bra-burner nominated to the Supreme Court, only to be replaced by a (hopefully) stealth conservative. The most inept State Department in the history of the United States. (Clinton's wasn't incompetent; they were flat-out fifth columnists.) 20 million new illegal aliens, and barely-contained glee that the election-day losses mean we can welcome another 50 million in.

And I hate to say this, but when we won the war in Iraq, I was praying for my friend who was an MP, fearing for his safety in the dangerous house-to-house searches. And then they never came. So I put joyful trust that the military didn't need to do such a dangerous task. Then came the insurgency. And bold optimism. And more violence. And more bold optimism. But, um, after 3,000 of America's finest dead, it becomes plainly apparent that Rummy and Bush simply didn't realize that disarming the terrorists was necessary.

So can we say it now?

That Bush is the most incompetent Republican ever?

Sounds to me like you are just a brainwashed liberal, who has decided that because Bush has a southern accent, he's ignorant, and that you are somehow superior to him. That is total arrogance and ignorance. I pity you.

Stop projecting yourself onto Bush.

BUSH IS FROM CONNECTICUT was was a CHEERLEADER at Andover. The only southern accent he might have is the one he fakes as he tries to look like a tough cowboy.

The guy is a fraud.

I fully expect a lot of harsh comment directed to Bush and the spineless Republicans still standing in DC. That's ok, there has been a rage out in conservativeland with the direction the Republican party has gone.

Our troops in Iraq have done a wonderful job and I'm damn proud of them. But on the political front we failed....the war was over long ago. We should have moved our troops to the Iraqi borders and not get involved with nation building. The Iraqis will never like us.....the shi'ite and sunnis will always fight each other. It's just the way it is.

The economy has been very good but the Republicans, with no leadership couldnt capitalize on this issue. The entire campaign was centered around the threat of the RATS...and it didnt work. Now I am afraid the Republicans will fall further to the left so they can get along nicely with their new masters.
And blame all their problems on the likes of Hannity, Rush, and FR.

Conservatives lost a lot of good folks in this election..I thank them for their service and wish them well.

"I could not stomach a fellow American calling there deaths insignificant."

Then, I guess, you misunderstand he and I. They are insignificant when compared to the overall struggle, the WAR and the WARS fought for the Freedoms we have.

My father (whose memory is fading) was the 2nd wave at Normandy. 6 months on the front lines! Brest (France), on foot across France to the Battle of the Bulge where he was wounded with shrapnel in the face. 6 Months when life was measured in hours!

He saw more dead than we have suffered! He walked over a hill and saw the remains of Cologne! Only the great Cathederal was standing! The stench of death was everywhere.

Don't get uppidity on numbers. I have numbers. What is important is WINNING!

Seems to me you have little historic perspective here and you are not paying attention to what is at work here.

#1 The Democrats get about a billion in free positive publicity every election cycle.
The Republicans get more than twice that in negative bashing by the press.

In my opinion, if there was even close to a fair playing ground in the press, the Democrats would hardly get 30% of the vote in an election.

We are in a war, never lost a battle, yet it is reported like we are constantly losing all over the place. The reporters even give the terrorists air time.

#2 The gains by Democrats don't even get close to the average shift in seats that occur in this situation regularly in a 6th year.
I think they are averaging less than 50% of the gains normally expected.

#3 We are in about the best economy in a long time and because the press slams that 24-7, there was no feeling of that by the people.

If you take into account the historic switches that normally happen and the 24-7 sabotaging for well over a year of the war and this administration by the press, this has been a remarkable good election with far lower than typical loses.

Bush has failed to live up to his own standards - i.e., executing the War on Terror and taking out the Axis of Evil. We took down Iraq, but failed on Iran (which is mucking us up in Iraq), and North Korea.

I don't think it's legit to complain about the insurgency and violence in Iraq, since those are the necessary costs of going to war. But it is legit to complain about Bush not following his own promise - to hunt down the terrorists in whatever country hosts them. And it's costing us.

My bro-in-law's father was in Battle of the Bulge(I think he was an EOD guy mine sweeper) he died 2 years ago of a stroke. Had a military funeral(I had my bro-in-Law make sure that he had it done right)

Sooner or later we will kill them all.
Whether you know it or not we are in a battle with Iran
and Syria. They are your terrorists. The Sunni and Shiites
are killing each other. We are either going to win or have a
look at your new future:
(Just about all of these murdering governments have one thing in common with
the possible new speaker of the house.
There all Communists.)

3000 you say?

No, WE don't deserve what we got. Rove, Simmons, Foley, Ney, Rohrabacher, Chafee, DeWine, Santorum, Wilson, Leach, Shaw, Fitzpatrick, Gerlach, Bass, Pombo, Johnson, Sweeney: They deserve what we got. But we fought the good fight. We worked the polls. We pled the conservative cause. We supported the troops. We did our part.

We didn't fail to enforce immigration laws.
We didn't place open-borders zealots in the INS
We didn't instruct the State Department to permit the Saudis to pick which Wahabbis to send to our universities for themselves.
We didn't implement hundreds of billions of dollars of new spending.
We didn't use FEMA for country-club patronage jobs.
We didn't let Governor Blanco call the shots.
We didn't waste our time trying to make black-marketeers like Chirac and Putin try to sign on to destorying their source of dirty money.
We didn't pass executive orders forcing 320 languages on the American public.
We didn't let Clinton's civil-rights zealots run the enforcement agencies.
We didn't sell out our nationhood to Vicente Fox.
We didn't give other people's money on Specter, Chafee, et al.
We didn't put Rockefeller Republicans in control of party money.
We didn't campaign against Minutemen, calling them criminals.
We didn't sue tiny Mom and Pops for wanting their employees to speak English.
We didn't let Ted Kennedy draft the nation's education policies.

We did our job.
Our duplicitous leaders let us down.

In four years, the US military overran Europe and defeated the enemy in Asia and Africa as well. Now, after four years we can't pacify one lousy city and a Province?

I have not asked my father about WWII for a while. He never spoke much about it. 6 months on the Front Lines. From climbing the cliffs of Normandy to the Battle of Brest and then walking and fighting on foot across France into Belgium. His group, I believe, was the infantry replacement for the stranded 101st. Ask him now and he has problems finding the "right words".

Hereditary Alzheimer's, I do believe. His aunt had it. His mother's parents were Germans from Russia (Volga) and they come from villages (Jost and/or Lauwe) where it has been traced.

In not uppity on numbers, again 100,000 for victory would be a small price to pay, however they are not insignificant. That is my point, not that we should never have casualties or that they are inherently wrong but that there deaths do matter. Thats all I am saying.

Then we should not dwell on words.

When we fight for our lives or a cause greater than our lives, numbers do not matter.

That is the Warrior Spirit. We need to rediscover it.

My Grandfather was an Island Hopper in the Philippines I can't
talk to him about it anymore because he doesn't even know who I am(he doesn't even know who my dad is and he takes care of him everyday) pretty sad... But he had to stab a Jap with his bayonet because he was sleeping with him in his foxhole! Luckily he woke up first! He also almost got killed by a teenage sniper and he brought that rifle home with him and gave it to my dad(it was stolen when our house was robbed some 30 years ago)
