Drowning my sorrows. . . What are YOU drinking?
Self | 11/7/06 | ccmay

Posted on 11/07/2006 11:02:11 PM PST by ccmay

Well, two years ago I posted this thread: Whee! I'M TOASTED! Cheers to W! What are YOU drinking?. Well-lubricated hilarity ensued for the rest of the evening.

Once again I find myself half-sloshed on an election evening with no work scheduled for the following day, but this time the champagne remains untouched in favor of several stiff glasses of scotch on the rocks. Ahhh, alcohol, the cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems. So sayeth Homer J. Simpson.

Anybody else want to get soused along with me? Name yer poison, and bottoms up!

Coffee. There's work to be done, and less than two years to accomplish it in.

Agreed. Having jousted with you on Mac/PC threads, I am proud to, for once, be in total agreement with you. Act like adults, people. If you don't like the results of this election, get out and make sure it doesn't happen again in 08.

Makers mark whiskey, chased by beer.

Oh, and I had a couple shots of Patron enejo tequila.

I wish I had something stronger.

Distilled spirits are to be consumed straight, and if one needs to chill them, that's what the fridge is for. Ice ["rocks'] merely dilutes, defeating both the flavor and purpose. And there ought to be no sorrows to drown [just drink with the proud consciousness that, like a Roman consul of old, " I have done what I could and let him, who can, do better"]. What is there to be sorry for? For not having telehypnotic abilities to put some ideas into the powers that be?

I stupidly drank a whole pot of French press coffee so I would be able to stay up and watch the election results. I stupidly went into this election night believing it wouldn't be this bad. Now, I cannot sleep and am becoming blind from all of the posts I've read here. What a terrible night.

Aw jeez, i thought you were the one that made them interesting, even though I didn't agree with you. Well, if you get the urge, and can't stand it, you can Freepmail me and call me a Mac nancyboy when one of the threads comes up. I won't complain. In fact, it will seem like old times.

I fully agree. Coffee it is, starting tomorrow. But for now, a dram or two before I retire.

We have lived through worse in this country, and of course we will rise again. Redistricting, and the propensity of our opponents to bugger and abort themselves out of the gene pool, will see to that. But I will be doing my best to make it happen too.
