"Actually, let me spell it out more clearly.

On this board, you have probably 250 to 400 professional writers, three or four editors, at least a dozen illustrators, thousands of photographers. Start the paper, publish a few copies, and then set up reporters in every major city. Handle their credentials. And then you can actually go to press conferences and ask those questions the drive by media will never ask.

You can publish things, get it out there, even if it's just paper on a bar to catch slops. You'll have a resource that other papers and yes, websites, can mine. Most of it can be done on a volunteer basis, and publishing costs for a hundred thousand papers is about $10k a month. Less than what is raised to run FreeRepublic each month."

With a few hundred small laser printers for small area distros and Kinko's for larger sets...

Have the individuals do the footwork to place them.

(Possibly get some national advertisers to help foot the bill (at least pay for the gas money.)

I think this is a great idea which will work. I went around tonight at our watch party getting interviews for my daughter for the OU Daily who was on the phone.

There have been so many times that having media credentials would have come in handy. I would have loved to be at the press conference of Hastert here last week and asked him why he and the House Members didn't have a coherent message that all our candidates would have used. I have heard him speak several times in OK and it is all the same speech. They never take questions from anyone but the media when they come through Oklahoma.

Well, even if you're talking large printings, a single 8x11, double sided, still runs you more than five cents a copy. Two pennies more, you get 16 double sided 8x11 pages. I'm pretty sure it's still about $200 per spot color, so for another penny, you could have red white and blue on the masthead.
