Beautiful...
Well, they threw out the baby with the bathwater.. the best of the bunch with the exception of Santorum and a couple others, was actually in the congress and it was congress that blocked amnesty, the GOP Senators wanted it and more.
I've noticed the same thing. I've been wondering how many conservative traitors there are. I've tried to post my own thread and reply in another thread but they're taking forever. I found this one so I'm replying here also since it's the same topic.
I don't know what happened. Wait, yes I do. The whiney-baby cut and run and traitor conservatives got their way. They whored themselves out to the libertarian party or didn't vote at all and the whole country is paying for it. I doubt the over-seas military vote is enough to repair the damage.
What happened in Missouri?????

I'm not in the mood to argue the meaning of the word amnesty with you. Look it up. Bush doesn't want to prosecute or deport the illegals. Whether or not you wish to call that amnesty is your business, but I'm not alone among conservatives in calling it amnesty. Are we all wrong? Perhaps. But President Bush sure isn't winning this guy over to "compassionate conservatism," and I think I can make an excellent case it hasn't sold well to the public at large. Case in point, the election!
LOL.....I'm sure you're not.

Too bad more moderates can't grasp the concept...dance with the guy who brung ya! Your "realism" has done us a lot of good, hasn't it.

Just like you aren't willing to read and respond to my point other than to make snide comments. C'mon, tell me why the Republicans are out. Certainly Bush's "compassionate conservativism" is so great, everyone wants it.
I've read it all thousands of times before, just like somebody saying on this very thread that I'm on the same side as Nancy Pelosi.
I've seen how you all "handle" people who disagree with your lockstep views.
Been there, done that; just remember you had a chance for input into a GOOD plan, but you choose to turn it down.
But not to worry, you still have an issue to bitch about!
Howlin wrote: "I've seen how you all "handle" people who disagree with your lockstep view."
I'm sorry. What's your point? How I "handle" people who disagree with me? I discuss the issues and try to give reasons for my views, same as you. No, I would never imply you're a Nancy Pelosi. No, I never had a chance for input into a GOOD plan (assuming you are talking about the Senate's immigration plan). At least, I didn't have direct input, but my representatives and senators were there on my behalf. Yes, I do have an issue to bitch about.
I have no problem with moderate Republicans per se. What I do have a problem with is moderates who imply conservatives are wrong to fight for what we want. Each person should vote as he or she sees best, and let the chips fall where they may. Sorry, but I'm not prepared to sacrifice everything I want so the moderates can have what they want.
What you fail to see or ever even acknowledge is that moderates have WANTS, too.
You simply discount them because they don't agree with you.
Any conservative here who voted for a Dem does not belong in this forum.
I think when all the results are examined you will find out that Republican turnout was up but that Dem turnout was up even higher and indepdents who usually vote at very low levels during off year elections were motivated for change. I believe few Republicans stayed home. I think Republicans got what they deserved. They didnt do anything to deserve re-election.
And who caused that? Couldnt have been our fearless leaders who did nothing but work to maintain control but do nothing for the voters? I think when the final analysis is done you will find that it was the independents who got pissed off enough at Republicans to vote in unusually high numbers for an off year election.
"Did we give conservatives anything to vote FOR?"
Nope
See
Some of you get it,...
We have 24 months more or less to turn this thing around. W will probably veto the more odeous tripe passed by congress, but who knows?
No, was all-or-nothing faux "realism" of denying the simple truth that politics usually require that one make the choice between bad and worse.
To meandog with love!
If I had my choice between a conservative Democrat and a liberal Republican, I would take the Dem and that would not put me in bad standing in this forum.
This is a conservative forum, not a Republican one.
