"F Word: An Unabashed Bush Bashing"
Boston Globe ^ | 11/06/06 | Matthew Gilbert

Posted on 11/06/2006 11:40:32 AM PST by raccoonradio

"The F Word" isn't a documentary or a mockumentary. It's a stoke-umentary, created solely to stoke the fires of non-Republicans who may be feeling passive about voting. The election-eve timing of the IFC movie, which premieres tonight at 9, only highlights its mission to serve as motivational therapy for Democrats, Independents, and just about anyone who doesn't believe in George Bush...In short, it's a bash-Bush bash.

What saves the movie for me is what might damn it for others. Director Jed Weintrob is openly preaching to the converted here, and he makes no token efforts to appear even slightly objective. He dives headlong into anger at the Bush administration, its use of 9/11 for political purposes, and the changes it has wrought on freedom of speech. He has created more of a polemic than a layered portrait, one that is marked by passion, urgency, and sincerity. If "The F Word" had soberly pretended to present all sides with equal fervor, it would have ended up as a cold wet rag.

I bet both of the regular IFC viewers will watch it tonight.

They need to re-air "Path to 9/11" tonight, all 4 hours of it.

But still, regardless of the last ditch efforts the Dems make, they still won't win, imo.

Someone on my radio/TV discussion board is raving about Fox
News airing a "right wing scare movie", ""Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West," on election eve weekend.

So...how does the guy feel about THIS on IFC? (not that I
can get IFC on my cable. Thankfully I _can_ get Fox news!)

The IFC Channel....isn't that the one whose audience comes in just behind that of police scanners on a typical evening?

What the hell kind of "changes" could have been "wrought on freedom of speech" by the administration when someone can air a "polemic" about the administration on the NIGHT BEFORE THE FREAKING ELECTION?

And how on EARTH do you attack the concept of using 9/11 for political purposes by launching a movie which uses 9/11 for political purposes?

Near as I can tell, this guy's career is in trouble because he can't say THE F WORD on public airwaves. Like this is some BRAND NEW concept, TOTALLY out of the blue. Like the United States had some GLORIOUS TRADITION of saying the F Word on TV going back to the Coolidge administration. BUT NOW, under the FASCIST BUSH ADMINISTRATION, that's all come to a screeching halt, and before I get carted off to the GULAG, I'm going to exercise my freedom of speech which, come to think of it, I've had the ENTIRE TIME.

I watch IFC on occasion. That makes three people. How far ahead does that put us over MSNBC?

Karl Rove told them to air it on Monday night because he knew that is when everyone in America is watching American HotRod and American Chopper on Discover Channel.

KRYMB!!!!!
