Covering Up for Harry: Our Dishonest News Media
by Thomas Clough
Weirdrepublic.com

Six decades ago, Harry Hay founded a secret organization called the Mattachine Society. Its name was derived from a medieval French term for male dancers who sometimes satirized social customs while dressed only in masks. Harry was a visionary; he sought to organize American homosexuals around the notion that they were an oppressed cultural minority, like black people, who should agitate for homosexual rights. He began in Los Angeles in 1950, at a time when virtually no one identified himself publicly as homosexual and at a time when the American Psychiatric Association defined homosexuality as a mental illness.

In 1948, Harry Hay was middle-aged and living with his wife, Anita Platsky, whom he had married to conceal his homosexuality, and their two adopted daughters, when he was seized by the vision of a secret society for homosexuals. Harry was an ardent Communist, an aspiring actor and a disaffected Catholic. One summer night in ’48 he attended an all-male party in L.A. and ruminated aloud about whether the Progressive Party candidate for president, Henry Wallace, might include a sexual privacy plank in his platform in return for the support of homosexuals. That night, while his wife and daughters slept, Harry scribbled the gay movement’s first political manifesto with its organizing principle that gays were an oppressed minority. Harry’s first chose to call his group Bachelors Anonymous. It took him more than two years to recruit four other male homosexuals. Two of them had been Communist Party members; the third, Dale Jennings, was arrested the following year for soliciting sex from a policeman. The fourth man was Harry’s lover, a Viennese immigrant named Rudi Gernreich, who would later become renowned (notorious?) as the designer of the topless bathing suit for women. Harry’s Mattachine Society hired a lawyer to defend Dale Jennings against the solicitation charge, claiming police entrapment, and won an acquittal.

As the Mattachine Society added chapters across America, it grew wary of Harry’s Communist Party affiliation and forced him out. The communists rejected Harry’s homosexuality after he divorced his wife in the late 1950s. More than two decades later, Harry formed the Radical Faeries, who were given to gay spirituality, mud baths and ecstatic dance rituals.

The New York Times published an obituary of Harry Hay on October 25, 2002 that ran for 35 column inches. This was followed by a glowing article about Harry on October 30th and yet another in the choice Sunday magazine section of the Times on December 29th. The Times couldn’t tell us enough about Harry Hay, the founder of gay liberation, who had died at age 90. These fawning articles pretty much covered Harry’s entire life, including his anti-draft and anti-war activities and his work with Native American activists. The Times even made mention of Harry’s participation in the Communist Party agitation that led to a union strike that closed the Port of San Francisco in 1934. So it’s mighty peculiar that the New York Times, the newspaper of record, the paper all the other papers and all the television networks look to for direction, somehow never got around to mentioning that Harry Hay was an enthusiastic supporter of NAMBLA, The North American Man-Boy Love Association, which advocates the abolition of all age-of-consent laws. Yup, Harry was an advocate of pedophile rights, which he believed was an organic dimension of gay rights.

For what I can find:

Pelosi has marched or been a part of Gay Pride parades, but NAMBLA was not there under that banner.

Therefore, the reason for the missing photo you request.
You have to prove first that the above all came about and when etc. No facts to support, but for a remark by Pat Buchanan.

All started with Pat B. :

Joe Scarborough: I will tell you this pat, if a chief of staff came to me, if Mark Foley’s chief of staff came to me in 1998 and told me that this was going on I’ll tell ya, I and most decent people, you would’ve gone to the speaker and if he didn’t do anything you would have held a press conference.

Pat Buchanan: Alright, that’s my point apparently ABC knew this a year ago, if the reporters knew this a year ago and they didn’t report it, they don’t care about those kids, they’re waiting to drop it in the fall election. In this case, Hastert’s got a point, if people give a hoot about the kids and they know about it and they wait for a year to dump it, do they really care about these kids? I don’t think so. Let me may make one more point. Ms. Pelosi has marched in gay pride parades with the North American Man Boy Love Association, NAMBLA. Which, who are pedophiles who are trying to get the laws repealed for sex between men and boys. If she’s been marching with pedophiles, is she credible standing up there saying I’m shocked, shocked that some Republican is after 17 year old pages?

Pat Buchanan: yeah will, let me tell you something. Two national figures, Rudy Giuliani, Hillary Rodham Clinton, marched in gay pride parades in New York, in which I believe that NAMBLA floats were moved right along.. and these are child predators who are arguing for getting rid of laws between men and boys they’re marching with that, that will go into…

http://pandagon.net/2006/10/06/watch-pat-buchanan-play-the-nambla-card-ucc-takes-on-perkins/

A statement was made:

Harry Hay and Rep. Nancy Pelosi both marched in same SF Pride parade back in 2001. Link to pipelinenews.com Blog pointing this out:

http://www.pipelinenews.org/bbs/viewpost.cfm?id=11157

In a “guilt by association” attack, some fundies are taking Answers.com / Wikipedia entries on the North American Man/Boy Love Association and associating it Harry Hay, and then associating Harry Hay with Democrats like Rep. Pelosi. Here’s the significance of Harry Hay to all this:

http://www.answers.com/topic/north-american-man-boy-love-association

Excerpt: In 1980 a group called the “Lesbian Caucus – Lesbian & Gay Pride March Committee” distributed a hand-out urging women to split from the annual New York City Gay Pride March because the organizing committee had supposedly been dominated by NAMBLA and its supporters. The next year, after some lesbians threatened to picket, the Cornell University gay group Gay PAC (Gay People at Cornell) rescinded its invitation to NAMBLA founder David Thorstad to be the keynote speaker at the annual May Gay Festival. In the following years, gay rights groups attempted to block NAMBLA’s participation in gay pride parades, prompting leading gay rights figure Harry Hay to wear a sign proclaiming “NAMBLA walks with me” as he participated in a 1986 gay pride march in Los Angeles.

Gay rights organizations aren’t affiliated with NAMBLA, and Pat Buchanan knows it.

Pat Buchanan is a Catholic and he makes donations to the church, the donations fund Priest salaries, some catholic priests molest boys, therefore, Pat Buchanan pays Priests to molest boys. So Pat Buchanan is a monster.

Comparison given:

I see no legs here with this story...only Pat knows for sure? He made the statement so ask Pat.

the Rats seem to be systematically '
cleansing' in net of photos that show them for what they are...we should have an group dedicated to archiving them - for example: In the 2004 campaign, Harold Ford, backing Kerry, blew his stack at Steve Doocy on Fox & Friends when Steve brought up the infamous 3 - Ramsey Clark, John Kerry & Jane Fonda - and the photo of that at the antiwar rally - 1972 = at the Wash. monument. At that time, you could easily GOOGLE up the photo...

Ford lost his cool, as reported in NewMax:

"Harold Ford Threatens GOP Over Fonda-Kerry Photo

Rep. Harold Ford, D-Tenn., who was one of Democratic presidential front-runner John Kerry's earliest backers in Congress, went ballistic Wednesday morning when asked about the photo published Monday by NewsMax.com showing Kerry demonstrating against the Vietnam war with "Hanoi" Jane Fonda.

Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004 4:55 p.m. EST
Harold Ford Threatens GOP Over Fonda-Kerry Photo

"Don't bring that up," an angry-sounding Ford told "Fox & Friends" co-host Steve Doocy.

Referring to the controversy over President Bush's military record, Ford threatened to "revive this thing on the National Guard" if questions about Kerry's Jane Fonda connection persist.

The Tennessee Democrat attempted to defend Kerry's decision to team up with Fonda after she adopted his group, Vietnam Veterans Against the War, as her leading cause.

"For someone who went over there and almost gave his life, [Kerry] pretty much can say whatever the heck he wants to say, in my book," he told "Fox & Friends."
NOw try finding that photo anywhere - theone os Ramsey Clark addressing the crowd with Kerry beside him = looks like he's holding his speech for him - is still there.

It might be a good time to remind people of the Clark/Kerry alliance what with Clark - who has been Saddam's head defense lawyer! - just getting his head handed to him by the Iraqi judge who reamed him him out royal and threw him out of court ("Out! Out!") with intimations of charges.

I hear none of this being shown in TV.It's relevent.

The RAts have been screaming that we had infuence over the court - and here Kerry's decades long comrade has, from the get go, served as Saddam's primary lawyer!

He spouted off to the judge about the verdict, the judge let him have it between the eyes. We need to slam the media to cover this. (see my next post)

It's not olny relevent but comical and would catch the viewers eye - and then their mind: "Wait a minute. Clark was Saddam's lawyer???"

we need to email the media an insist they cover the comical but very relevant exchange between Saddam's lawyer and the judge.

The lawyer ranted at the judge about the verdict - and the judge came unglued over him. He threatened legal action against the lawyer and told him to get out of the court - and in case the lawyer didn't understand him in Arabic -the =judge repeated it in English, gesturing, "Out! Out!"

And who is his lawyer - the HEAD lawyer of Saddam's team? John Kerry's partner in shame - Ramsey Clark. Clark, Kerry and Jane Fonda were hitched at the hip and led the antiwar rallies against the Viet Nam war and the troops.

Leopards don't change their spots. If we get the media to run the exchange between the Iraqi Judge and Clark - there will another layer of people that will make the connection especially if we remind the media. And the Kerry connection is relevant for mentioning thanks to Kerry's suicide last week.

Remember, there are a lot of younger voters who have no reference to the Kerry/Clark/Fonda trinity in the 70's. They need to get a heads up.

There's a simple formula for getting a story covered...it's their own formula - and we have used it successfully.

Here it is.

(Copy/paste list to your files for quick find in future)

Media emails – the formula: if they hear from 40 to 45 people on a story, they will cover it.
CAUTION: do not mass email - they won’t look at it – email singly- also : Short and sweet or they wont look at it! Include a link, if you have one.
