Did anyone see "Larry King Live" last night? I don;'t usually watch (I'm usually with Hannity and Colmes) but he had a fascinating discussion on "Beyond Positive Thinking" featuring people from the new movie "The Secret"

Thank you for posting those 100 quotes. I would not have been happy to find that I had downloaded 180 megs of this. Just for the record. These ideas are not new. The New Agers have been proclaiming these things for over thirty years. Every five to ten years someone new comes up and repackages the information and gets a little fame and makes a bundle.
I know, I was lost in this New Age speak years ago. Just to save you a few wasted years I'll tell you this. There is a creator of all things and He's not you. He loves you though and You can know Him because He wants you to know Him. Because of Him all those crazy ideas I used to carry around in my head are now gone. I am no longer conformed to the ideas of this world. My mind has been transformed through reading, studying and believing the Bible. If you are honestly looking for the truth, sincerely ask God to show you the truth. He will.
From a clip shown on the show of one of the guests, the Rev. Dr. Michael Beckwith:

I would recommend the movie. It's about demonstrating our highest good via the Law of Attraction.
As I first mentioned, these ideas have come and gone many times over the years. Like other similar ideas, they have a lousy track record, but someone always seems to find a new way to dress them up and put them out there to fool the next generation. The truth exists, but you won't find it there. I know because I've been there.
Both "What the Bleep" and "The Secret" deal with the power of teh mind. "What the Bleep" is more focused on quantum physics and its relation to mind, whereas "The Secret" focuses on the Law of Attraction.

No, actually, the record is quite good. Using these principels consistently and with faith produces results. But it only works if you work it.
Every so many years these beliefs rear their ugly heads to deceive a new group of people. They appear to work up to a point, but what's really happening -- is that bit by bit, you're being pulled away from the truth.
As I told you before, I've been there and done that, years and years ago. I praise God that He got me away from the deception before it was too late. I pray the same for you.

I have been working with them all my life. I understand exactly how they work and I know that they do work. They work due to scientific and spiritual law. It's really that simple. These are essentially mechanical principles.
As someone said, the world is an energy field. (Matter is compressed energy, with its frequency slowed down.) What you give your attention to manifests. It's quite simple, really.
I don't know how old you are, but when I was younger, I too could easily say I worked with this stuff all my life, and it was about thirty years until I learned the truth. These ideas are not new. They have been around for longer than you, I, or anyone else alive today. They've been deceiving people from the beginning, and unaware people will be deceived until the end. For them it will be too late. I pray that you are not one of them.

The Law of Attraction is a law of physics. It says that likes attract. The same is true of energy. A worldview of prosperity leads to prosperity materializing. An energy of health leads to manifest health. And so forth.
I know that these principoles work. I work with them; I watch others work with them; I help others work with them. They work magnificently.
And BTW, John is the least reliable Gospel. Most of what's unique to John it seems Jesus didn't say.

According to whom, the left-wing Jesus conference, a group of liberal, barely-believers who decided they could determine what Jesus said and did not say? Who are they to say what God said and did not say? Were they contemporaries of His? Did they hear Him speak? Aside from making Jesus line up with their beliefs, do they even know who He is? The Lord is more than able to protect His Word. I am constantly amazed how people twist the Bible to their own ideas. They find whatever they want to believe in the Bible. They take words out of context and they cut out entire books if the statements in it go against their beliefs.
I believe that the Bible is inerrant. I would never have the temerity to say I know what belongs in the Bible and what does not. I don't think any of us today can. What exists in the Bible was placed there by the Holy Spirit and is there according to God's will. It's not my job to manipulate it to fit what I believe. I need to change and align myself to fit what Jesus says, those things which have been included in the Bible -- not merely believing the parts I agree with, like picking and choosing from some supernatural religious buffet, but the whole truth in Christ.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Rom 12:2
If you are really looking for the truth, not just a confirmation of your own beliefs or the beliefs of some other human, sincerely ask God, He is more than able to show you the truth and read His Word, the Bible -- the whole Bible, not just the parts you agree with.
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. Proverbs 3:5 - 7
Finally, read the book of Judges to see what happens to people when everyone does what is right it their own sight. It's not very pretty sight. It's certainly not what God wants.
