FSM is honored to carry Contributing Editor Ray Krafts call to John Kerry to resign. In our opinion, it is long overdue. John Kerrys offense, the defamation of our valiant Armed servicemen and women and the psychological and political aid and comfort to America's Jihadist enemies in a war that is as much psychological and political as military fully warrants it. Do the right thing, Mr. Kerry: step down
John Kerry, It's Time To Resign by Raymond S. Kraft
Enter John Kerry, who served in Vietnam (lest we forget) and donned the uniform again to run for Commander in Chief two years ago, to tell us what he really thinks of the military he wants to command -
" . . . you know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't you get stuck in Iraq."
Well, now we know. If you're smart you marry a rich heiress and warm a seat in the Senate for the next twenty or thirty years. Maybe you run for president. If you're dumb you join the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or the Coast Guard, and go fight for your country's freedom and security.
And then John Kerry shot himself again in the other foot (for which he will doubtless award himself another Purple Heart) by spending the next three days trying out half a dozen different non-apologies to see if anyone was gullible enough to swallow any of them, but never actually admitting that he was wrong, and never actually apologizing to anybody for anything.
By insinuating that American Soldiers and Sailors, Airmen and Marines and Coast Guardsmen, are people who aren't smart enough to "do well," John Kerry has publicly and deliberately given psychological and political aid and comfort to America's Jihadist enemies in a war that is as much psychological and political as military. Does this rise to the level of actual treason? Perhaps not quite.
This is nothing less than the intentional and dishonest defamation of the intelligence and abilities of America's soldiers in a time of war, a defamation that will predictably be used as a recruiting tool by Al Qaeda, a defamation that will lead to the deaths of more Americans and more Iraqis, a defamation that aggravates the political division within America between those who believe that America should keep its commitment to the Iraqi people to liberate them from both Saddam Hussein and also from the terror of Jihadism that has followed, and those who do not. It aggravates the political division within America between those who believe we should defend America's security on our enemies' soil, and those who think we should wait until we have to defend America from its enemies on our own soil. It aggravates our enemies' perception of America as "a house divided," which cannot stand, which will ultimately fall to the political and psychological warfare of the Jihad, thereby aggravating and prolonging the war.
This defamation of America's warriors by Senator John Kerry is at least unseemly. It is sleazy, it is dishonest, it is defamatory, it is conduct unbecoming a Senator.
Article 133 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) provides for the court-martial of any commissioned officer, cadet, or midshipman who has engaged in behavior which dishonors or disgraces the person. Conduct that can be punished under this section includes offenses of dishonesty, and of using "insulting or defamatory language" to, or about, another officer.
John Kerry has been both dishonest and insulting. He knows, or should know, that the high school graduation rate among enlisted personnel in the US military is well above the national average, and that (according to a recent Heritage Foundation study) 97% of all commissioned officers are college graduates. He knows, or should know, that many thousands of people earn Bachelors and Masters degrees, law degrees, medical degrees, and PhDs, while serving in the armed forces of the United States, many through the United States Military University which offers the opportunity to earn Bachelors and Masters degrees in all major academic disciplines to all active duty service members. Many thousands more learn advanced technical skills to support their service specialty, many of which are transferable to later civilian careers. Many of America's airline pilots earned their wings in the Air Force or Navy. To say or imply that only those who can't "be smart" and "do well" join the military is both untrue (dishonest) and defamatory. Dishonesty and the defamation of others by a Senator who trumpets his military service as a qualification for office violate the spirit, if not the letter, of UCMJ 133.
While the UCMJ doesn't technically apply to John Kerry anymore, since he is no longer a Naval officer, there is no reason why we, the People, cannot demand that the same principles of conduct should apply to members of Congress. Certainly John Kerry should resign for a deliberate, dishonest insult to every member of America's armed forces.
John Kerry, it's time to resign.

go back to Tereza. when she has to put up with you 24/7, she'll toss you out on your bountiful ears. Then she'll come see me;-)
I second this! Where do I vote?
don't hold your breath until this rat resigns. terayza would give ALL her money away before that would ever happen.
When is he running for re-election. Isn't there any Republican in Massachusetts who can win a Senate seat?
Mitt Romney?
I am officially opening the Darkwolf Medical Treatment for Kerry-Caused Laughing Fit Fund and Storm Door Company. All contributions will go toward repairing the damage to my throat from laughing myself hoarse over this idiot's self-inflicted political deathblow. I blame any FReeper who has posted a story about this and refusing to let it die for my sore throat, aching sides, lack of sleep as I hit the refresh button, and the feeling of euphoria as I get too much oxygen to my brain from laughing for days about this moron's self-destruction. He began his public career by bashing the troops; now he ends it in the same manner, but I am the one having the last laugh...and it's killing me! (pleasantly) Please give generously!
Kerry was going to resign, but then decided against voting for it!
John Carry must resign. He has taken the lead in insulting and demeaning our military for over 30 years now.
His words over the years could have just as easily come from Ho Chi Minh (during Carry's Vietnam years), or the Politburo (during the Cold War), or Daniel Ortega (during the 80's), or Al-Queda recently (reference Carry's comments about the US military TERRORIZING women and children in Iraq), or even from Al-Jazerra this week (with his insults of the military).
Where is the outrage from the Democratic Party at his comments?
Enough is enough. Jon Forbes Carry must go.
................Kerry Resignation = Apology......Period!!............
A great enterprise, indeed. It should be very profitable here at FR. ROTFL
At last there is ONE issue both Democrats and Republicans can agree on--John Kerry is an idiot. :)
Get out that Burnt Toast recipe!!!!!......
As a Massachusetts citizen who can proudly proclaim that I did not vote for Kerry, Kennedy or even Dukakis, I find it frustrating that we can't put together a solid Republican party here. Despite the blue color on the "Map", many of us are not liberals, we are not Dems. I guess it's because anyone of substance doesn't want to get involved in the mess called politics here.
Maybe someday...oh, a girl can dream can't she?
Actually Mitt Romney lost to Ted Kennedy a few years back.
Some of the KOS folks are mentioning the unthinkable for them.....
I may have to hit the DUmpster for verification
