COLORADO SPRINGS, Nov. 3 /Christian Newswire/ -- Focus on the Family founder and Chairman James C. Dobson, Ph.D., issued the following statement today after learning the Rev. Ted Haggard had acknowledged some "indiscretions" involving accusations made against him by a gay prostitute in Denver:
"All of us at Focus on the Family are heartsick over the allegation, not yet confirmed, that Ted has had a private life with a homosexual for several years. We will await the outcome of this story, but the possibility that an illicit relationship has occurred is alarming to us and to millions of others.
"Ted has been my close friend and colleague for many years. He has been used mightily to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Colorado Springs and around the world. He will continue to be my friend, even if the worst allegations prove accurate. Nevertheless, sexual sin, whether homosexual or heterosexual, has serious consequences and we are extremely concerned for Ted, his family and his church.
"We ask that the Focus on the Family constituency and Christians everywhere pray for Ted and his loved ones. Our hearts go out to all of them. Perhaps the allegations are false and the circumstances are not as we have heard. Either way, the situation has grave implications for the Cause of Christ and we ask for the Lord's guidance and blessings in the days ahead."
God's cleansing judgement begins at the household of God, but doesn't stop there. It's interesting to note how, immediately after our freak shows made page 1, the house banking/post office scandals broke.

Me either. This is much to do about nothing. Who outside of Colorado has ever heard of this guy? He might have a "big" church in Colorado Springs. But any influence on people or votes nation-wide?? -I don't think so.
"Indiscretions" isn't the word that comes to mind.
Probably because it's a big news story, and he's getting phone calls from reporters around the country, if not the world. He said the right and Christian thing, by the way.
It's time to end celebrity Christianity.
LOL, good one.
ROFL
Not the word that his polygraph failing, homosexual prostitute accuser has used.

Well, on the plus side, someday my dream of a tryst with Paula White might come true! But I hope she doesn't get jacked on crack before we make out . . . |
What is a "proto-Christian"? Pardon my ingnorance.
We are all human, with human weaknesses, temptations and frailties. I hope that Haggard can draw on his faith and family to set his life back on a course to God.
Does that include the Pope? If so, I agree.
Not all the tv preachers are bad. The really wierd showy ones are but Stanley, Kennedy, Laurie, Graham, Yusef, and several others are very solid.
Good for James Dobson for calling him to account too. Because if either of these admissions is true, this guy has done a huge amount of damage to the church and he needs to be kicked out of the ministries and apologize to NON-BELIEVERS and believers alike. These are not inadvertent sins.....these are beyond the normal little temptations into which a person might accidentally fall. He sought these sins out if they are true.
Huh? A celebrity ? Who is this guy?? Never seen/ heard of him. Is he on TV? Im waiting for the dirt on Joel Osteen, LOL..
Dobson reflects my exact sentiments.
