Those kids were persecuted for no reason.
The sad truth is that this sort of thing happens a lot more frequently than we'd like to admit. The difference between those cases and this one is that Nifong was dumb enough and made enough mistakes to get caught at it. But these kinds of acts on the part of DAs is far more common than we generally think.

More often than you know.
My kid was thrown face-down in the hall at high school, marched out of school in hand-cuffs, held in jail for 24 hours, all because the dip-sh*t Dunn County DA forgot to sign a document 3 months before, dismissing a charge. No apology, just a paperwork mistake, little wonder anyone has so little respect for the legal system.
