I recall a time, not that long ago, when doctors themselves smoked. Nurses too.
I work in a hospital and plenty of employees step outside for smoking breaks, and that includes those involved in patient care.

Self-admiration is not the same as saintliness. I didn't make any claim to "saintliness." You ludicrously suggested I had, so I gave you an answer as silly as your post.

You're the one who assumed sainthood for yourself in your sanctimonious smoking-cop posts to stylin19a.

You're the one who assumed sainthood for yourself in your sanctimonious smoking-cop posts to stylin19a.Nonsense. Any 'assumed sainthood' only happened in your mind, and I am not responsible for what goes on there. Don't blame me.

He's a doctor.
That's what they DO. They tell people to quit smoking.
Sheesh.

The anesthesiologist had an opportunity during the pre-op appointment to counsel the patient re smoking.
Taking advantage of the patient being on the table to utter a suggestion like that is a bit shady, IMO.
He's like liberals who can't help proclaiming their politics regardless of the situation.
Surgery is a time to carry out professional duties. Anything other than that would be to offer comfort to the patient, not an admonition.
That is solely my opinion.

A friend of mine used to go with his physician father at Christmastime to deliver cartons of cigarettes to the nurses at the local hospital.
This November 16th (I think) is National Smoke Out Day. Our local hospital is going totally smoke free that day. No employee, no patient, no visitor, no construction worker may smoke. It won't be easy for some people.

I am 2 hours post-op surgery. I'm really careful about posting after one glass of wine.
Two hours post-op? You're a wild man!
