Hello,

I was on the phone, and couldn't get back to the thread until now, we here in St. Louis are looking forward to Game 3! We'll be ready!

Glad to be here, MOgirl

I was at one of Lolich's WS victories--game 5!

Though the Tig's came through tonight, I sort of wish they'd kept Kenny in there in the 9th!

And watching Todd Jones is like watching a Hitchcock movie. You never know when something horrible is going to happen.

Me too, but luckily Leyland is smarter than both of us. Rogers is 41 yrs old and they will need him for game 6. Gotta save his energy for that. Their closer usually makes it exciting but he throws strikes, and he got the close.

Must be a great memory! I was only 10 yrs old at the time, and wish I could remember it better. Willie was my favorite. I was going to take his place in left field when I grew up. Oops, that didn't quite work out the way I wanted it to.

LaRussa = stuff on Rogers hand is not important. (Per St. Louis Local News during the after the game interview with LaRussa)

Leyland and LaRussa are good friends (IMO this is why LaRussa is did not have a fit over what Rogers had on his hand.)

I was 12. I was practicing to be the next Denny McClain. Well, except for the conviction part.

As the TV pundit pointed out, Rogers threw lights-out after the incident. I have to admit it is odd, though, that they detected something on his hand and didn't eject him. I've never seen that one before, either. Whatever it was, I'm sure it will come out tomorrow.

It's funny, but I don't remember much of the game. I wish I could see it on video! But I remember very vividly how Jose Feliciano sang the National Anthem!

I guess I was 13. I remember how because the games were all in the daytime our teachers at Adams Jr. High brought their TVs to class to let us watch. I remember how my dad bought our very first color TV just so we could see the highlights in color!

Really odd... Normally LaRussa would have been out on the field having a fit about it.

Well, except for the conviction part.

No kidding. If you ever read Freehan's book "Behind the Mask", he alluded to the fact that Denny was a jerk. Too bad. All that talent. I think I remember McClain saying his arm was shot by the time he got to the Series. That was back in the days the best were pitching 300-350 innings. No one seems capable of that any more. They wrecked young Fidrych by overthrowing him.

Dang, where did you see that? I missed it!

Was just looking at his stats for his rookie year 1976. Record 19-9. Started: 29 games. Completed: 24 games. That's sick!

There have been a few but the one I remember is the 10 inning masterpiece by Jack Morris in game 7 of the 1991 series for the Twins. It left an impression on the Blue Jays who promptly signed him for 1992 and while he lost his two starts in the 1992 series without his 21 wins that year the Jays wouldn't have even been there to finally win it all. Tigers, Twins and Blue Jay fans owe the world to Jack Morris.
